Comedian Dave Attel Dead at 41
Friday, March 21, 2004 Posted: 7:00 PM EST (2200 GMT)
NEW YORK CITY, New York (AP) -- Dave Attel, a comedian best known for hosting Insomniac, a show about the night life of popular cities, has died. He was 41.
Attel, a New York native and one of the original writers for Saturday Night Live, died of what appears to be heart failure early Monday morning. An autopsy will be performed for more information.
"I still can't believe it," says friend and colleague Brian Johnson. "There weren't any signs. He seemed in great health. I can't believe it."
Attel got his big start in 1987, when he joined the writing team for Saturday Night Live, the long-running late night sketch comedy show. Since then, his off-color routine has made him one of the more famous comedians in recent times, and eventually got him the job of hosting Insomniac on Comedy Central.
April Fools. It would have been too obvious if I did it on April 1st.

It gives me great sadness to bring this news to you.
My brother, George, aka Captain Robo was killed yesterday when he got hit by a car.
He said in his will to let every message board in his favorites list know of the bad news.
I just thought you guys should know, as he won't be posting anymore.
