my four views of a door series got accepted to the student art show. i found out today.
when i went to see if it had gotten accepted, i was freaked out because it was in the smallest gallery with some other art work. i figured that it hadn't been accepted because some of the other work in the gallery had these big stickers on them, but i was wrong. i had my pictures in my hand and was about to walk out with them when the gallery director came out of his office and told me that the works in this gallery were the ones that were accepted to the show. this compounded my disbelief because there really weren't that many.
phew.
i ran into my fren tiffany, whose work i really admire, on the way out and she said apparently this is a big deal this year to get into the show because they were being a lot more selective.
hooray.
i'm so happy. this is the first time any of my work will be hung on a wall for people to look at. it's exciting!!

oh! i forgot the most important part of this thread (sorry i was excited):
thanks so much for your input, doopa and raver in training. you were both very helpful and i'm sure that i would not have gotten my stuff in there if it wasn't for your insight and comments.
i really appreciate it.

here's what it kinda looks like. 'cept they are all framed separately and each picture is 7x10.5". i had to use white matte cause the black just didn't look right to me (sowwy raver gal). the frames are a nice simple black metal size 11x14".

if you wanna see the images separately and a lot larger, you can go to my deviantart page and see 'em there.
there's a link to that page in the art forum under the thread called 'my photography page thingy'

thanks! i just hope that i can keep doing stuff that people like for now. i'm not too interested in selling off my stuff yet. mainly for the reason that i have no idea what i should be charging and how to make sure the prints i do sell don't deteriorate in 5 years.

Are they prints or "real" photographs ? Actually I don't have much experience in both, I'm more used to ink/painting and the like, so I never thought much about this durability factor. But I'd think the sturdiest in time would be real photographs, when properly prepared - I've been known not to rinse enough then in a few months the stuff gets "burned".

they are digital prints. i took them with a digital camera. i manipulated them in photoshop and i printed them off on glossy paper using my epson 1280.
i know that there is paper that i can get that is made for digital archival prints, but i haven't checked into it yet.

i'm glad i helped. :> i think the last one in the series fit really well. i like it better than the one you originally showed me for the series with your reflected image. it also brings color into the fourth panel instead of dropping that off a cliff. :> i meant to IM you and ask how it went, but you signed off just as i signed on today
