View Full Version : The SA Forums are Very Lame

From what I know, the SA forums can only be read if you have an account there, but I have a link that bypasses the login screen and goes to the forums. For some reason though, the link only works for maybe a week before it goes to the login screen instead, but I keep finding links all over the site with weird numbers in it that seem to work for a few days. Anyway, enough rambling, here's a link. Maybe it'll work, I don't know.
http://forums.somethingawful.com/index.php?s=9f729aada7a2ce52401f3ce6c94dbe0a
But anyway, they are infuriatingly stupid and I can't imagine why anyone would want to pay for an account there. Even if it is retard free, the amount of lameness and uninteresting people in the SA forums is rampant. I can't believe one of the most hilarious and entertaining websites on the Internet can have a message board full of dull people.
Usually it's the threads by Lowtax that piss me off because hundreds of mindless sheep agree with whatever he says. Take one thread for example "To l33td00d. From Lowtax" which simply says "stop posting". EVERY SINGLE POST after that is "Agreed!" or "I'll sign this petition lol" or "Amen hahah Lowtax YOU DA MAN".
Also there are so many people there at every minute of the day that a post you made two minutes ago could be on the bottom of page three of the list of threads. It's completely pointless to post there.
So, in short, people on the Internet suck. Also, don't buy an SA forum account.
Anything posted after this that pertains to the topic will be completely surprising, by the way.

I'd buy an account so I could participate in things like Photoshop Phriday and Comedy Goldmine. Things like that are what's missing from this forum.

Yeah, but with Goldmine you'll never know which thread will become one. At least I think that's how it works. Does OMGWTFBBQ go into a thread and say if it will be a Goldmine or not?
And I guess it's worth 10 bucks if you want a submitted image to appear on page 9 of a Photoshop Phriday every week, but I wouldn't have anything to do with it.

There's a lot of images and ideas that don't make it, so it'd be nice to see more of the stuff, because it's hilarious.

I think something like that would work pretty well here. I mean, look at the "draw your worst nightmare" thread in Art Shit. That was pretty funny. :(

Wow, that thread actually was pretty decent. Maybe once the new site launches, we can promote weekly "drawing contests". No, not photoshop contests, actual drawing contests. Silly stick figure shit 'n what not like you see in that thread.
I could promote it on the main page of the site too to help things out a bit. What do you guys think?

I had an idea for a potential art contest, but I wouldn't be able to provide a prize for it. :(

I think it would be awesome... then I remember the Mock Crew... half of the Photoshoped pictures will just be dicks edited on to people's heads. >:

Those SA Forums links work because you're specifying the session ID to use in the URL. They stop working after a week because that must be how his server waits before it deletes them.No more valid session to match the ID, no more free looking. :(
I bet that if you don't visit the forums and log in for a week, you automatically get logged out.
Sorry for geeking this thread up. :( :(

I joined another forum like that a little while ago. I would post something and about ten minutes later it would be missing because, as one person put it, "People keep on posting the same damn shitty threads about Johnny Depp's ass and Puss-In-Boots appreciation threads."
Everyone else kept on telling me to bookmark threads I wanted to look at again, so I got pissed off and started bitching at them about how I shouldn't have to and stuff. Then I made fun of their moderators and left.
Er... what I'm trying to say is that most forums on the internet are like that, because most internet people are stupid and gay.

Yeah, but I would be able to. I-Mockery = prize central. :o
Seriously though, I think I might setup some kind of "drawing contests" message forum which gets featured on the main page of i-mockery once I'm up on the new server. The winners will obviously get bragging rights, but if a person wins enough contests, they just might get a free DVD or something from me here 'n there too.
What do you people think of this?

That sounds like a really good idea, as long as people don't gay it up.
:/
Will it cost you too much to send dvds if alotta peopel start winning because people are getting stuff for free technically. because I know there's people who would just join for the chance to win free dvds :(

It wouldn't be THAT easy to get DVDs. We'd only have one "official" contest per week, and you probably wouldn't get a DVD until you've won like 15 or 20 of 'em. Somethin like that.

We should not limit these contests to just drawing.
We can add humorous Photos(no editing), Photoshop Edits, comedy stories etc. It would add real diversity of material to the site. And in submitting the pictures, drawings, stories, etc, we enter into a deal that allows you to use these creations as you see fit. We then could brag to friends about how such and such work we created is featured on I-Mockery, and might bring a bit more traffic.
And lets not forget the prizes.
No offense to most of the Mock crew, but we suck at drawing.
And I doubt it will be fun for long if Supa rakes up win after win in that department.

Retardedly funny MSpaint pictures win these contests I think. It would be a good source of material though.

Exactly. The entries will be solely judged on humor, not artistic talent. If the artist wishes to make the drawing look really nice, that's totally up to his/her discretion, but it won't have any effect on the voting results.
