tomorrow morning at 6:30, i'm to be at the hospital, prepared to be prepped for my caesarean section. first, they'll strap a bracelet around my wrist letting the medical staff know my blood type, just in case i start bleeding uncontrollably and need a transfusion. then, i'll be given a spinal block, i.e. a big needle thingy inserted into my spinal cord through which anesthesia will flow. at some point, the doctor will come in, slice open my lower abdomen--six inches or so; pull out my bladder and lay it on my belly; cut open my uterus and pull the baby out. sounds like a fun way to spend a few hours, huh?

according to measurements from the ultrasound last monday, the baby was 7.34 pounds. but my belly seems tons huger now.
and the tech said he wasn't gonna say it was a girl but he didn't think it was a boy. and all i have is boy stuff. at least we've agreed on a girl's name. it's a boy, though, we haven't even decided definitely what we're gonna name him. the initials of the name we love spell lsd. :(

Why won't they let you deliver vaginally?
Good luck! I hope the epidural is extra effective!

My God, I never knew c-sections were so drastic. In fact, I think I would have lived happier not knowing it. The magic of womanhood has been spoiled forever.
Not that you'll be reading this in the next weeks/months I guess, but all the best.
Also, I think Lucas Sebastian is a good name for a very distinguished supervillain.

I'll add my good luck wishes to the rest. I hope all goes well with you and the baby.
For the record, I think Sebastian Lucas sounds great too. ;) Both your baby names are great, though. Excellent choices.

You know, it's really thoughtless of her not to logon to the boards today and tell us how it went. I mean, geez, it was just a C-Section. :blah
AM I RIGHT GUYS?

Oh totally RoG. It's like on Buffy when she's fighting a bad-ass vampire and then it's a to be continued episode. So unfair.
PS. Best wishes Sadie.

omg! congrats :)
at least you didn't have that procedure where they use a pair of medical scissors to snip through that part between your vagina and your anus - with no anesthesia either - so that enormous baby head can rip its way out better. THAT frightens me. i think i'll be getting a c-section if i ever feel the need to spawn.
