View Full Version : I Must Crucify My Computer

Here's the lowdown:

C:\ registry is corrupt. Winamp deletes every time i boot win2k, and i think Photoshop does as well. Now i get an error that automatically shuts me down saying "services.exe" is corrupt. In other words, "Fuck you." Is there any way i can repair this? If not, do i have to go through the pain in the anus of reformatting again? I dunno what caused the registry error (my guess is FUCK WINDOWS) but i think may have been a faulty network card i inserted. Is that possible?

Edit: As you can guess, auto-shutdowns have rendered win2k a useless husk because i can rarely log into it. Right now i'm using a decrepit old version of Win98 that i was using before (partitioned it on the C:\ just in case, w00t) and suffering at the hands of poor memory management and some bizarre fucking excuse every time i try to install firefox on here. >:

Pull the painful, bloody shaft of Win2K out of your ass and upgrade to XP. :(

1. I hate XP, everyone i know who owns XP gets spyware/adware so unbearably fast it makes me want to cry, and boot viruses are far from uncommon in my experience with it.

2. The message says something very similar to "Windows will now shut your system down under command NT AUTHORITY/services.exe

blahblahblah see C:\*\*\services.exe

blahblah something about a code 128."

Everyone you know who has XP is a moron, then. :(

Yeah, these XP users aren't exactly the birghtest in the bunch, but what exactly is so bad about 2k anyway? XP seems to just want to make my life more annoying. =/

I fixed the problem by using an extra 10GB i had lying around as the new master and turning the old C:\ into a slave, so hopefully this means it won't bitch at me. I think it was the bad network card that i inserted. Seems to me like 2k was set automatically to detect any hardware errors and then isolate them to keep them from spreading, or something. Whatever, this new C runs faster like whoa anyway =o

I hear Linux gets no problems of these type of nature, but quite frankly i'm just too lazy to use it. If i had a new PC i could use it, just because i'd have all the documentation. Mine is kind of like a pimp-ed out frankenstein zombie, where everything is a different make/model. I don't know my flippin' PCI Bridge model number, dammit! >=o

Win2K was a huge pile of ass and nothing ran on it. It came in two flavours: ME and Professional. ME was the gayest OS ever devised and Pro was meant for businesses, therefore games run like junk.

Everyone says that Linux is the solution to everything... yeah, but only if you are a computer geek who knows how to set everything up. Otherwise, you will be supremely fucked by Linux.

I'm using Win2k Pro, and it seems to run Unreal and Deus Ex fine for me, so i've got no problems. I don't play many games on this thing anyway, what with an AGP STARFIGHTER 8MB VIDEO CACHE KICK-ASS video card. ME is easily one of the worst OSes i have ever used, but i think you're not giving 2k enough credit.

They have tutorials and instructions you can print out. So its not that hard.

2k is good. and it is not at all the same os as me.

xp is only better because it has better features. system restore rocks when supporting people. so does remote desktop. and you can turn off all the visual effect so it looks like 2k

linux is ok if you normally pay for an os since it is free. if you wanna run games it sucks. I would never run linux on my home pc, to me there is no point, on a server i would though.

If you can't find an XP code ANYWHERE on the internet, you are officially retarded.

Anyway, 2000 does suck the balls. I tried it once and it was clunky at best. I pretty much refuse to use anything but XP, and they fixed the majority of security holes with Service Pack 2.

Have you run norton anti virus?

Anyway.. for the record. 2K does not suck ass at all, i used it for about a year and it was a very stable and reliable OS. IMO its pretty much just XP but without all the fancy crap bolted on. Also, for those without the stupid high system requirements for XP anything is better than 98... right?

ok guys correct me if I'm wrong. But you should try and install windows again from the inside. I believe the command is c:/windows/system/win32.exe I hope this helps.

firstly you cannot install windows from within windows. Secondly win32.exe is added to the system as a result of the RATEGA virus. If it is on your system remove it immediatly.

Windows 2000 isnt that great at all. I've got a pc running Win2k and a pc running Xp. I like windows XP much better. One thing is for sure tho, Win2k isnt giving me any spyware/adware/hijacking problems. But shit that can all be easily fixed.
