I'm gonna go with Yay, and try to get everything out of it that you can. Like have whoever's coming with you loudly declare "PREGNANG WOMAN! PREGNANT WOMAN! LOOK OUT EVERYBODY, PREGNANT WOMAN!" until you're all the way to the front with a comfortably wide circle of emptiness around you.

Just be careful nobody hits your boyfriend with a chair and he falls on top of you. :(

my boyfriend probably won't come with me as he is lacking the gene that makes him know good music from bad music.
just kidding, he likes some good stuff, but mostly no.
i will be going with my gay fren.
and i'm going. i think. i just don't wanna be that 'fat chick at the disco' girl who stands out like a sore thumb and who people look at in disgust.

I vote nay. Just put a Pixies CD in to you're computer and put the headphones up against your fat, bulging belly.
glowbelly
Sep 23rd, 2004, 10:35 PM
right. because listening to a pixies cd is just like going to see them live, especially since they haven't played together since before this current stretch of tours since, oh i don't know...twenty years ago?

:( I'm not a pixies fan. Go ahead and risk it if you want to.

spaz i dont know you but alread i can tell we're not going to get along
glowbelly
Sep 23rd, 2004, 10:40 PM
i'm trying to think of the risks and i'm not really coming up with any.
it's a fairly large indoor venue. i'm not going to be on the floor, dancing with the angry kids. i'm going to be in a seat, most likely on the upper level and i'll smack anyone who lights a cigarette or a joint around me.
James

I think.
What you should do.
Is.
Get backstage, by saying you are with child, and you fear that the loud music and potentially rowdy crowd will be harmful to your child.

just because i'm pregnant doesn't mean i can't have any fun.
it's not like i'm going to go ride rollercoasters all night and then play whack a mole on my belly. i'm going to be sitting in a chair, listening to music and most likely eating nachos.

:yum Mmmm.... Nachos.... :yum
I change my vote to yay, because nachos are good for a developing fetus. And most importantly, have fun and buy lots of overpriced souvineers for your kid :)

Smoke rises.
and no matter how big the venue, if it's indoors you are going to smell it. I went to Universal ampitheater to see a concert and the second I walked in the back I was hit with the strongest odor of marijuana I've ever smelled.

I say yay, but i feel like saying naye because I wanna go. It sold out in chicago in like a minute.
As for rowdy kids, how man kids do you know that like the pixies?

captain goodtimes, did you check all of the shows? there's a bazillion of them in chicago.
i'll take my chances with second hand pot smoke. i doubt i'll catch a buzz off the shit and if it bothers me too much, i'll just find a place where it doesn't bother me or stoop to a new low and get security involved. :)
as for cigarette smoke, it's everywhere i go now, so that doesn't bug me at all. this is not to say that i still smoke, because i don't. i quit 9 days after i found out i was knocked up and haven't touched one since.

I missed them the first time around, but I'm trying to make some scratch for their Nov. 18th appearance, 80 bucks.

I meant November 15th.

Yeah, you're not as annoying as witty or mubert because they're always saying stuff like "hey at least i'm not as bad as (insert name of the other one)"
Seriously, Father Spaz, if you're saying something like the thing you just said (which is quoted above), then you shouldn't be here probably.

You should definitely go kayren!! Its the sort of thing a kid will love to hear when they are older, that you were doing lots of cool stuff when they were still inside you.

So, its absolutely none of my business, but I decided to look on webmd and like 10 other sites. At 5 months the baby can become extremely startled by loud sounds, will hold their hands over their ears, and could even, in extreme cases (i doubt a concert, but im not a doctor) experience damage to hearing development. I would call your obgyn and ask for real.

this, to me, is fantastic news. only because it means that when you impregnate me, you will have to shut the hell up in the morning for fear of freaking out our unborn child.
you should start practicing now. no more singing and/or yelling prior to 11am. shhhhh.

i called the midwife to ask about the debilitating shooting pains i was getting in my lower abdomen especially after i sneeze and she said that those were normal things called round ligament pains. apparently my uterus is stretching and my ligaments can't keep up hence the stabby sensation i'm feeling "down there."
i asked her about the concert and she brought up the same concerns. she said the sound thing shouldn't be a problem because it's not like i'm going to be bellied up to a speaker, so to speak. worst case scenario is i go, i freak out because i feel unsafe and i waste $35. i doubt that's going to happen. my fren is ace at keeping stupid bouncy people away from me. he did it at x and i'm sure that crowd was a hell of a lot rowdier than this one is ever gonna be.

Yeah, studies show that it is important to expose unborn babies to music as it helps in neurological development. They recomend Mozart, but that's just becuase they are snobs who wont give the Pixies a chance becuase they think new music can't ever be as good as the oldies. Mozart is good, but there's more to life than just Mozart!
You will have the hippest baby EVER.
