Net-Worm.Perl.Santy.a is going around fucking up phpBBs, just thought you guys could use a heads-up.

Kaspersky Lab has detected a new worm which propagates using a vulnerability in phpBB, which is used to create Internet forums. The vulnerability is present in phpBB versions up to 2.0.11.

The worm overwrites all .asp, .php, .htm and .shtm files on infected websites with its own code.

Further information will be available in the Virus Encyclopaedia in the near future.

All users of phpBB are recommended to update to version 2.0.11

This new worm does not represent any threat to users visiting infected sites as it will not infect computers being used to view infected sites.

Looks like it was too late. :/

By not upgrading this version of phpBB, you could be violating your terms of use! :eek

Actually the board going down wasn't because of the worm that's going around. They just migrated it to another server apparently so that it'll go down less. Let's hope so. :o

What's with the yellow text talking about exploits then? I think they're just telling you that because they don't want you taking your money to a different host.

That's a notice they sent out to all their clients. I'm at work at the moment, so I can't take the yellow text down.

If this board goes down, it's gonna be because it caves in on itself and takes everyone with it, not because of some lil' worm :o

It's a timebomb. :o

The edit problem is caused by frelled indexing in the database. I think.

I told you to try fixing it by clicking Repair Table and Optimize Table in phpMyAdmin. If that's not letting you do it, then something is fucked with the database. :(

I can't even login to phpMyAdmin anymore. Haven't been able to in a long time. :o

I think you should wipe everything clean and start again with a shiney new version of PHPBB. Ideally keeping thread backups though.. some how.

Or we could keep it and spend the break down times like vacation from the internet. God knows there are people who need it. Rog is thinking in the long term.

I'm pretty much always in this simple mindset when it comes to the forum: We'll run this board until it begs for mercy. And when it dies, if I give it the sweet release of death that is, a new board will be born.

Maybe you should hire a messageboard technichian from the facility you purchase this place from.

You should hire Mr. Belvedere, because lord knows Bob Uecker can't do it all by himself.

If you can't even log into phpMyAdmin, then you should be telling this Siteturn host to get their fucking act in gear and fix your shit. You're paying for it. :/

Hmm... okay, it's your responsibility, then. :(

I've seen a lot of hosts that offer phpMyAdmin as part of the setup package, though. >:
