View Full Version : My computer is dead :(

Last night, I was brushing my teeth and I heard my computer turn off without the regular sounds of logging off and shutting down. I tried to turn it back on, but it just made a soft twirling sound and then nothing happened. It doesn't power up at all. I figured maybe the power source was damaged, but the light on the motherboard is still illuminated so I can tell that at least some power is getting through.

What the hell is the problem?

Yeah, it does sound like a PSU issue. Perhaps you should consider upgrading to something a little larger then what you already have like a 500 W or a 600 W maybe...

Well, I replaced the power source, and the same thing happened. I hate this. :(

Did you check what exactly is happening inside the compuer when you turn it on?
For example, does the CPU fan start? do the PSU fans start? are the hard drives spinning?

What kind of PSU did you use to replace the old one (wattage wise)?

System specs?

Have you tried resetting the BIOS (check the motherboard manual)?

This sounds exactly like what happened to me! I just got a new motherboard and it's working just fine.
