I think the spikes are there as an example so that you don't blunder into them farther down the path, thinking that they're just regular damage spikes.

If the ending your talking about is the gay one, choose the other option when you enter the hatching room. When you get out, head up.

The first step towards the third ending is not talking to Booster when he falls past you in the labyrinth. You have to jump across the gap to the door.

Yeah, I've gotten that and the best jetpack, but I still don't get to get frustrated over the real final boss. Does anyone have a save up to the point where you save Curl? :O
