does this quote sound familiar to any of you? if so, count yourself among the hundreds, nay, thousands of other people trying to figure out where the hell this quote came from. this question has been hounding internet kiddies for years without anyone finding an answer. movies like willy wonka, spaceballs, the hudsucker proxy, and tv shows like simpsons and seinfeld are all mentioned by people, with no confirmation from anyone.

speaking of quotes, I've been trying to find out where the quote "Fear not, my friends. This will be my greatest performance." comes from. I think it was a movie with some old tapdancers.

I think I remember that quote, too. Some guy was about to kill himself, I think.

The first thing that pops into my head is that Looney Tunes episode where Daffy drinks gasoline and swallows a match.

It is most definitely from "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". I've been watching it and it came up when someone was using a machine. The alien fella says (after being asked 'What does it do') "It doesnt do anything, thats the beauty of it".

someone not important said:
Wow is this confirmed or just a strong feeling?

Oriphus's reply:
Its confirmed. Rewinded the DVD and played it again. A straight quote from that film.

anyone on here have a copy of the DVD so we can check for ourselves?

That quote came from Willa Wonka. :) I win. Where's my prize?

The fact that this quote is so familiar to everyone is because each part of the quote has been said a ton of times but the sentences were never together. I'm surprised nobody decided to mention Office Space yet because that's a populer response too.

Did they ever say it in Office Space? :(
