the other day, we asked my twelve-year-old, ryan, if he'd taken his allergy meds yet. kevin wondered aloud whether he really needed them or not.

"me, without allergy medicine?" ryan replied with a smirk. "a nuclear snot bomb." :O

allergies seem to be prevalent in this area of the country. just about everyone i know here in southern virginia has regularly stuffy noses and sinus problems. my sinuses are a veritable barometer. one ent said it was all due to being on the atlantic coast, even though we're about four hours away from the nearest beach.

when i moved to oklahoma for my freshman year of college, i spent about a week in sinus hell. i had to leave classes many times to blow my nose in the hall. :( after that, though, i was freely breathing -- until i drove back into virginia. and then it was back to the same.

i'm wondering if it's this way all over. have you, too, been plagued?

yup. i get headaches and my nose itches so bad that i would prefer to rip it off of my face rather than have it attached to my head. orrrr, i dunk it in ice water.

My nose runs every time I eat. My doctor thinks it is a neurological thing though.

I have had allergies since forever. They are seasonal, and really only bother me in spring and fall. Winter is the only season I am free from a runny nose. :(

I used to have really sensitive skin, but it looks like I outgrew that mostly. No food allergies, either.

when i was ten or eleven, i went with my mom to an allergy doctor in winston-salem who stuck me again and again, inserting some sort of serum just under the skin of my upper arm. it was determined that i was allergic to dust, mold, feathers, pet dander, peanuts, and some other things i can't remember.

i had to give my parakeet (who used to peck at my pencil while i tried to do my homework) to my best friend. :( and i had to get rid of my new purple-flowery down comforter. :( but at least i didn't have to give myself shots every day like my mom did. :(

I have the watery eyes, runny nose, and sneezing every spring and summer. Yeah, it's only me in my family though and my doctor thinks it might be all in my head. The burning sensation in my eye tells me otherwise though.
