I'll be going to college next year, and was wondering if any of you experienced dorm rats have any suggestions on quick, cheap, GOOD eating with just a mini-fridge and microwave.

Well what I do with ramen (not the cups, dammit, the plastic packs) I throw away that crappy package of "chicken flavor" or whatever the hell it is and throw in salt, pepper, and good ol' hot sauce. It makes a surprisingly tasty broth and I guarantee you it won't be bland :)

Get a mini freezer instead then you can feast on a variety of microwaveable ready-meals. They are cheap and quite tasty, my favourites are the all day breakfast and various roast dinners.
Or you can have melted cheese on bread but that gets a bit gross after a while.

Get "The Real Freshman's Handbook" if it's still around. It has all sorts of great recipes in it like "turkey in a toaster oven" and "cafeteria beef jerky."

Go to Walmart Supercenters. They have cheap food that will keep you going.
If you don't have one of those near you, then shop at the name brand chain that has a discount card. In my area it happens to be Kroger.
I have also heard that Aldi's are the cheapest of all food stores. I have never been to one and there may not be one around you... but if you can find one check it out and let me know.

Ok, now i've done some absurd, fucked up posts in my time, but I've at least been able to keep it on topic. Hey, DS: are you hot? If so, I could probably turn a deaf ear. You better not be dumpy!

I would suggest 'dining out' on rare occassion in college to simply keep your body used to all food types, and never underestimate the power of bean protein. Avoid fast food like the plague though, it will likely just give you the runs at the worst possible times if you are an active 20-something.

I eat fast food like once a month O: And usually something like Arby's where I only get a sandwich and some water. :(

Fashion a crude spear from a broom and a discarded utility knife and take a chunk out of the local squirrel population. Use the fur to make a sporting hat for the winter, and you'll be set!

bagettes? That's a little out of place among the others you listed. I do like bagette, but it goes stale in less than 24 hrs.

large soup + bagette (or better still, a sandwhich bagette) = all the food you need for a day
