I bought a copy of Dragon Quest 8 a few days ago and it came with a free demo of Final Fantasy XII, from what I've played the game seems like it's going to suck. The game mechanics work like an MMORPG except when you go up to attack someone you have to stop and go through a menu screen to decide what action you want to take, RPG's aren't exactly reknown for there intense gameplay but this shit was ridiculous. The game doesn't come out until August so maybe it'll change midstream into something great but I kind of doubt it.

I think enix is trying to bitch around square...FF didn't suck untill enix came into the picture.
Besides Final Fantasy should stop soon, and they should start a new franchise, there just beating a dead horse.

How is it beating a dead horse when every game in the series tries to be essentially different? I dont want to sound like I'm beating a dead horse here but your kind of a dumbass.

(edit... this was in response to ArrowX but someone else posted before me)
Even though I hate you, there's some truth to that.
According to the Wikipedia article on SquareEnix, Enix stockholders did better than Squaresoft stockholders when the two companies merged. AND... I haven't enjoyed a Final Fantasy game since XIII.
Crystal Chronicles was a clusterfuck of horrible ideas.

Yes they TRY and be essentially different games but don't bother to chanfe the name. They just glue Final Fantasy on the games title jsut to generate sales

Pretty much every Final Fantasy game (core and Tactics, but the other ones I don't care about) has been brilliant. They shouldn't stop until they start to suck. So far, they have yet to suck, and have only been some of the best games for any system they appear on.

The shareholders of the company that is being taken over almost always do better than the shareholders of the company doing the take-over. It's just general business sense. When a company that is doing crappy is taken over by a good company, the crappy company is buoyed by the good companies investment. One the other hand, the shareholders of the good company wonder why the hell they're buying a crappy company. Happens all the time.

Well I think the battle system is at least a step up from the previous final fantasies. No random battles, plus it's not like you stand in a line, wait your turn, run up and attack, then move back into the line...
And my friends I have PLAYED FFXIII and let me tell you...

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the series but how the hell could anyone like X-2!? I liked X because they managed to keep the spirit of the old games without dragging much more than chocobos along. I've yet to play XI.
What saddens me most is that alot of other really good square games get the shaft. It seems Enix just wants fan-service to keep popularity.
What happened to more original titles like Xenogears, and Parasite Eve? Theres been nothing noteworthy.
Xenogears has a pair of shitty prequels. And parasite eve had a lackluster sequel.
I was just hoping for ONE non FF square game that isn't a nything past a 3rd incarnation.... :(
But woe is me, my dreams of a Next Gen Parasite eve will probably never come to realization...

Enix bought Square, not the other way around.
