View Full Version : Ladies' Drinks

Recently I've been told that I drink ladies' drinks. By this I mean things that are fruity or sweet, rather than just beer or scotch. I’ve always been one to go for the “foofy” drinks, anything that sweet and mixed. The site that I use for my drink recipes, www.thebar.com, does not include a search category for gender, so I am wondering if it's real or imagined. What do you think? Are there drinks that are just for the ladies? Any guys out there that drink fancy mixed drinks?

Lots of guys think it's a point of pride to drink horrible things. I only drink mixed drinks. Then again I am a gigantic faggot. DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS.

Shots of captain morgan's, usually. I also like white russians. I haven't been to many bars, though, so I haven't really tasted alot of mixed drinks.

the only "man" drink i drink regularly is straight irish whiskey or tequila shots, i don't see what's wrong with drinking something that tastes good for fucks sake >:

I only really drink beer, or more often than not ale. Sweet alcoholic drinks dont agree with me, they are too sugary.

The only sugary alcoholic drinks I consume regularly are shots like Aftershock.

Mixed drinks really are for women. I don't like them, other than a Bloody Mary. Aftershock is ok, but it is still not what I look for. I still like dry wines like a wimpy wimp though.

I like girly drinks, but I think it's okay considering the vagina and lack of hard drinkin' experience. Even the shots I did were bright blue :(

My mom pissed me off a little when she said she was in the mood for a girly drink, then got Guiness :/

Mainly beer (pilsner types are my favorite) and whisky (jack daniel's being the best). I like rum too but usually don't buy it. Prefer to avoid vodka after many a bad experience :(

"Sweet alcoholic drinks dont agree with me, they are too sugary."

I feel you there, that's why I hate tequilla(and southern comfort, sometimes)... by the way, just out of curiousity are you a "Thin" person? Consider it a sort of survery question.

I don't like beer (I still drink it though) because it makes me feel bloated and disgusting. Getting drunk and being bloated is HORRIBLE, you're almost guaranteed to vomit! That's why I usually drink hard liquor, it keeps my stomach non-bloated.

Nah I weigh 14 stone and im about 6ft 3-4 something like that.

When I drink too many sugary drinks I wake up the next morning feeling like i've been repeatedly punched in the heart, its the worst kind of hangover for me. Not to mention they make my teeth hurt.

The reason I usually drink ale, like Newcastle Brown or Hobgoblin is because they are hardly sparkling at all, hobgoblin is practially flat. This makes you feel much less bloated after a few pints, but you shouldn't have too much to eat before drinking lots of ale because its quite heavy stuff, much like Guniess (abiet less) it fills you up and if you have had a large meal before hand you feel too full up to even touch the stuff.

When I feel like that I usually drink Corona with a wedge of lime, its a bit of a gay drink but is really light and tastey. Also it comes in smaller bottles so you can drink for longer without getting too drunk.

My problem with spirits is that you can't drink them socially. On a Friday or Saturday I usually have 3-4 Aftershocks or Sambukas just to get the night rolling but when you are in a pub for 5 hours+ you need a proper drink, like a pint, to last you a while. If you spent the whole time drinking spirits you'd most probably die before last orders.

"If you spent the whole time drinking spirits you'd most probably die before last orders."

I've had that happen to me on a few occasions. I really prefer not to go to bars at all, I like to sit at home or at a friends house and drink, swigging. I'm not really a big fan of bars, though: over-priced and around here there's just a bunch of assholes. There's one or two bars in town that are nice, though.
I wouldn't mind drinking beer so much if I could just sip on it between shots, and that's what I usually do. Lately it seems like people have just been buying us pitchers after pitchers, and that never seems to sit well with me.

I can barely stomach sweet things, as they are going down my gag reflexes kick in ;(
I'll have to try some of that stuff you mentioned, i practicallly never drink beer because of bloating, but if ale isn't so bad in that respect maybe I'd give it a shot. To be completely honest and simotaneously ashamed, normally when I drink beer I go for Old English's or 211's. I only need two or three and I'm feeling fine. lately though i just try to stick to pot, it fucks my lungs up but it doesn't make me feel disgusting. I have such a horrible flu right now, though, which means everytime i take a gravity my lungs go to shit(besides the shitty feeling of ripping a bong that has crazy resin build-up). Speaking of gravities, did you ever get to see one sadie? I've been drinking tons of cough syrup which can give you a nice buzz. Feels great except for the over-bearing shittiness of the flu.
Luckily my girlfriend's aiming at becoming a bartender, so maybe I'll be able to get free drinks and such soon.

One of my cough syrup has psuedo-ephedrine so I'm feeling crackily over-social.

Champagne? Malt liquor? Who are you trying to kid? You and I both know you only drink turpentine.

kahljorn: Ale is a somewhat aquired taste, most people who try it describe it as either barrel or mud. Which more often than not is true, its quite difficult to find a nice one.

I thought the champagne part was funny, I pictured him sneaking into fancy restaurants and mixing together the remnants for a fancy bum treat to go along side of his Treet. What's treet, you ask? The spam they sell at big lots for under a dollar. I fed that to my cats for like a week once ;(

My dad drinks all kinds of weird beers/ales, so I've had a few before. Just never enough to get really drunk. You know what's really weird to drink is those beers they describe as, "floral". At first it tastes horribly bitter, but once you adjust to the bitterness you get a type of "Jacuzzi to pool to jacuzzi" feeling and it starts to taste sweet and flowery.
Same thing if you drink a bit of any beer, then take a bong rip and start drinking again, it tastes so sweet it's strangely delightful. Not sweet in an over-bearing way, of course, more like a subtle sweetness you might find in tea or something.

I love drinks! ;O

I pretty much drink bourbon and coke like it is going out of fashion though, even when i go to pubs and all that- i just cannot stand beer. ;O

Vodka is also a delicious treat and you can have it with just about anything, and i have to say the "ladies drink" i am most biased in favor to would have to be malibu- or it's cheaper little cousin bombora. ;D

Jamaican's make the whole night go from arty to party in like 20 minutes ;O

Also different kinds of champagne make me feel as though i am partying. That is pretty okay too ;>

Ha, it seems no one agrees. Okay, here's my take on why people get bad hangovers from sugary drinks:

acid/alkaline balance.

Alcohol is highly acid forming, so is sugar, if you consume the two together it throws the entire balance of your body off. If you consume alcohol with an alkaline forming food (this is determined by the pH of the chemical ash left behind when the food is burned inside the body, so can be counterintuitive) it will not be as bad. Alkaline forming: lemon juice, orange juice, cranberry juice (not the kind with sugar, obviously).

Here's what I think is a REAL MAN's drink, got it off of www.thebar.com:

Yucatan Style Sangrity

Ingredients
• 1.5 oz. Don Julio Añejo Tequila
• 1 28 oz. can of tomatoes
• 1 cup orange juice
• .03 cup lime juice
• 1 slice white onion
• 1 seeded green chile
• 1 tsp. sugar
• .25 tsp. hot pepper sauce
• 1 wedge lime
.................................................. ..............................
Preparation
• Add tomatoes, orange juice, lime juice, white onion, green chile, sugar, and hot pepper sauce in a blender
• Blend until smooth and pour enough to fill a tequila shot glass
• Add Don Julio Añejo Tequila to another tequila shot glass
• Garnish with lime wedge

Pink wine (NYC Mock Meet 2002 reference)!

Drink what you like. When I'm in a Newcastle and Guinness mood, I drink Newcastle and Guinness. When I'm in a Smirnoff Twisted mood, I drink Smirnoff Twisted (raspberry). And if I feel like a friggin' glass of Zinfandel, I'll friggin' have one >:

Ray's Neapolitan Shooter

Ingredients (chilled)

Kahlua/Bailey’s/etc (1 part)
Tequila Rose (bottled tequila/strawberry liqueur) (1 part)
Heavy Cream (1 part)
Coconut Rum (1/4 part)

1. Pour your coffee/chocolate liqueur into the bottom of a small glass.

2. Take a regular spoon and turn it upside down. Place the upside-down tip of it against the inside wall of the glass, very close to the brown liqueur which now rests in the glass. Pour the Tequila Rose very, very slowly down the back of the body of the spoon. You should see it spreading evenly across the top of the brown liqueur layer.

3. Repeat step (2) but with the cream, making it flow across the top of the pink liquid. The liquids should not commingle.

4. You now have three distinctly colored layers, and it is time to add the final flavor: coconut. Using the same spoon trick, pour the rum delicately into the concoction (since the rum is so thin, I used a bartender's bottle nozzle to slow its flow). It will slip neatly between the pink and white layers without disturbing them. Note: The coconut rum must be added at this step, and not any other.

Enjoy! You can also mix these proportions in a blender with ice to produce a Neapolitan Cooler (increase coconut rum to 1 part).

As you can see, this thread is now MINE as all other girly drinks are disgraced by the Neapolitan Shooter.
