Posted at the top of this forum under 'announcements'. We're fixing the yellow URL in a few hours to match the new thread.
Let me know what you think or if you have suggestions.

I for one can't wait to get banned for calling people 'faggots' in the politics forum. :(

I think the "hi, i'm new thread" part should be at the very top. And in bold. In big green letters.

yeah, what the hell?
Do not make malicious remarks in the form of racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.
For obvious reasons.

no, it's not obvious. our best photoshop contests involved putting CHEF HATS on BLACK PEOPLE and writing ALL COONS LOOK ALIKE TO ME.
what the dirge is this rule?
AND
no porn? no indecent material? this place wasn't a hive of smut before, and whatever little was used was kinda funny. sometimes.
IT'S WORTH IT >:

Those parts were transferred from the old rules and guidelines, you slimy ****** cunts. Who are gay.
There's a difference between calling someone gay and engaging in hate speech. If you don't understand that, there are a few people in Politics who need a 4th for bridge.

well, i guess that's just a risk you'll have to take
notice, a bannable offense just mean a mod can dickslap you, it doesn't mean they have to.
just get in good with bape and you'll be fine.

How about something about calling for a thread to be put in thread back ups? If it's a good thread it'll be obvious that it needs to be backed up without demans of "Thread Backups! :lol2"

There should be a rule about bumping really old threads unless for a damn good reason.

i suppose it's a good thing to have a list of rules. you never know when you're gonna get sued by someone who's been banned; you can tell the judge and jury, "the rules and guidelines are clearly posted!!! and the link at the top of every page is in YELLOW!!!!1"
but the ones who need to read them most are generally the ones who won't. or if they do, it only serves to add to their to-do lists.

By the way, these are pretty much the original rules, condensed, and with specific tags for what is more likely to get you banned than other things. None of these rules are new, this is just a new outlining of our existing rules (and a few of our heretofore unspoken rules). I also wanted to cut out a lot of the text that seemed to actually goad people into being a nuisance ("There's nothing wrong with being a newbie, but there's plenty wrong with being a newbie that doesn't read the rules. We generally roast them over an open flame. Very slowly.")
Sadie, I realize that this won't make any more people actually read the rules; The main point of doing this was to make it easy for me and others to explain to people why they've been banned. Before you'd have to dig and say something like 'the second part of rule 6 clearly states...' This way it's all out in the open.
Esuohlim, I'll add something to that effect to the guidelines in the near future.

Both of those are more guidelines than rules (haha pirates of the caribbean am i right), but I disagree on the thread backups thing. Most of the time it's said it's meant to be ironic and the only threads IN thread backups got there cause someone suggested it and i was like 'oh yeah, we do have that forum.'
