Just got back from a 3 day hiking/camping trip.
I managed to be almost totally self-sufficent, with only 25 pounds of gear in my pack. But the girls who went along insisted on "cooked" meals. Adding another 10 pounds of food/skillets/propane in my very light camping pack. Then the 7 mile up-hill hike.
AND THOSE GOD DAMN CHIPMONKS CHEWED A HOLE THROUGH MY TENT AND ATE MY GRANOLA BARS!
I fucking poisioned another granola bar, which I left out, and I managed to clip one with a rock. It slowly limped/hopped into the underbrush when I ran up at it with my knife.
Pictures coming soon.

You should have brought grenades with you or a potato gun so you could lay down a suppressing fire.

Bleh, I went on a camping trip last weekend and just got back from another one this weekend. Me and my friends just went to a quarter section (that's a big thing of land) that my grandma owns and drank a couple kegs. Camping is such a strain on your body though when you're as frail as me, all sleeping in chilly crowded tents, breathing in ash and smoke for 15 hours a day, getting all sunburned from retardedly not wearing a shirt or sunscreen the whole time, eating nothing but stale ass hot dogs burned to a carcenogeous crisp, and then drinking beer basically the whole time is not that good for you :(
Also, the land had horse shit all over it because of some guy that lets his flock of horses run about from time to time. So now I'm all sick as hell :(

that ain't hiking Goat :(
To the camp site, we went 3.2 miles with a elevation gain of 1,500ft.
After setting up base camp at Lower Lena Lake, we went off to find Upper Lena Lake, which was 4 miles and another 4,000 ft up.
We went through the snowline, and lost track of the trail. We hiked in shorts, and t-shirts, through snow on steep hills, over icey cold rivers, and mud, and gave up in disgust when we realized we where totally lost.

Fuck all y'all. I did a Philmont trek when I was 16. On the second to last day, I had to carry 90 pounds up a 1 600 foot change in altitude above 8 000 feet. On my longest day I had to carry about 65 pounds for about 21 miles because someone got injured and I was sent to get help. And I was the fucking chaplain, so it was my job to keep everyone sane.

That is pretty good Seth, would you like a medal?
Aye, no food in tents period... I took everything else out of the bag. The granola bars where snacks for the hike/drive up that I forgot about. :( Kept in a side pocket.

sadie,
i have decided to turn this thread into a decent thread and since i figure that nothing can be worse than stabbing chipmonks, it shouldn't be so hard.
soooo, i'm really just writing this to let you know that i sent you an email with directions ;););) and it was bounced back to me for some reason :(:(:(

Time to come clean :(
Not a single Chipmonk died in my reign of Terror, the poision I used was bug-spray. I reasoned if it said "Warning, do not digest" upon the bottle, which was targeted at humans, then the Chipmonks might get mighty sick. I managed to wing one with a stone. But all it did was squeak, hop awkwardly, then run up a tree.
