shitty soundcard

just got my computer back from a repairman and it had to be completely wiped. this would be fine if it wasnt for my shitty avance ac97 soundcard. there's not a driver around that will work with it, and it says it's working fine but still i get no sound from my speakers. if anyone has any suggestions id like to hear them.

If it is onboard you should search for motherboard drivers. Onboard devices' drivers are usually all contained within a single package.

You can get a Sound Blaster Audigy or Audigy 2 for pretty cheap and they are great sound cards.

nice cheap external soundcard that you can also run a guitar or mic into :) I've had mine for a while now and it's excellent.
