I can get it to work, but I can't seem to get the battle menu to show.

Does anyone know how I can remedy this?

I don't know but it's definitely the emulator, as the same problem occurs with FF9. I've tried tweaking a bunch of the settings, but no go. I'll see what I can find out about it.

these things usually help with getting roms to work :O

ie Final Fantasy VIII - Yes , Slight skipping on movies, game slows down as transition from dark to light or vice versa (with slight skipping), game locks up in battle on hle mode, on bios mode no battle menus.. - azninvasion / In FFVIII the battle menu can be easily fixed, turn frameskip OFF, old frameskip ON, lazy screen updates ON, and unmap the throttle as well -mozee

Thanks loads. Now I don't have to waste the many gigs it takes up.

I've never used an xbox before to emulate games, but can you put something like Psxemu on it? or is PCSEMU the only thing that will work? and does pcs emu emulate computer games? because i think there's a PC version of final fantasy 8.

Well, the thing is that the emus on the XBOX run on .xbe, which is the windows equivalent of .exe. The XBOX however will not run exe files so you are stuck on whatever port comes out for a certain system. As far as I know PCSXBox is the only playstation port available for the XBOX. And they have ceased development and support from what it looks like. :(

Also, it will only emulate PSX games. So no PC ports im afraid.

If you're willing and stupid,

you can use install Linux in the Xbox and emulate Windows through Qemu and then emulate the PSX.

But you'd have to be really dumb and stubborn because it'd run like solid shit.

Yeah, two OS emulators running a console emulator (the playstation no less) would definitely be a strain no matter what you're running it on. We strongly advise against it.
