Ghosts 'n Goblins was one of the first games I ever bought for my NES. And to this day, it stands the test of time. Not bad for a first generation NES game, eh?

Almost everybody recognizes the great theme song to the game (I even went through the trouble of learning how to play it on the piano, so you know it's gotta be worth listening to!) and the hero "knight in shining armor" that is trying to save the princess. Problem is, anytime the poor bastard gets hit by a zombie or a flying devil, he loses his armor and is forced to take on the embarassing task of fighting hordes of demons... IN HIS UNDERWEAR!

I never did understand how he could store all those weapons he throws at the demons in his underwear... hrm, let's not go there. Anyway, this game is EXTREMELY difficult. You can get through the first level fairly well after a little practice. But the rest of the levels in the game are really hard. The flying devils that swoop up and down are a BITCH to kill. You'll probably get more annoyed at those than any of the bosses that you have to kill (yes, this game has the classic boss at the end of each level type of theme).

For a NES game, this is an excellent translation of the original arcade game. Great game play, great graphics, great music, and just as difficult. So if you want an excellent classic game that will present a true challenge... I strongly suggest trying out Ghosts 'n Goblins.

Anybody that can beat this game has "mad skillz".
