This is a great beat 'em up. You get to choose from 4 people: Axel, an ex-cop from Streets of Rage 1, Max (My personal fav), a friend of Axel's who is a pro-wrestler, Blaze, another ex-cop from Streets of Rage 1, and Skate, Adam's little brother. Adam was kidnapped by Mr. X so Skate wants to get revenge... in his roller blades! You go through 8 levels of play, fighting off endless waves of enemies. You get more attacks in this one than you did in SoR1, making it a bit easier to dispose of enemies. It's still hard though. But not too hard! A good challenge. Anyway, let me break it down.

Graphics: 9
The graphics for this game were awesome for it's time. They are very similar to Street Fighter 2 for Genesis. It had colorfully drawn sprites, and sweet looking stage settings. The character design was cool too. Mr. X has a lot more frames and looks bigger now, and pretty much every other boss looked cool. Very nice detail.

Sound: 10
The smacks and yells come in nicely in this game. Mr. X's evil laugh is cool. But what I really love about the sound in this game is the music. All the tunes sound really cool and will get your feet tapping. This and Streets of Rage 1 had great music. I didn't like what they did to the music in Streets of Rage 3. Booo!

Control: 10
The game is really easy to control and master. They're responsive, and once you get all the attacks down (Which shouldn't be long) you'll be smackin' down the baddies with relative ease.

Game play: 10
This is my second favorite beat em up with Bad Dudes for NES being #1. But this game has more diversified attacks, and just all around better play. It's not too hard, but hard enough. All the 8 stages are long, so if you beat it in one sitting it takes off a good chunk of your day. About hour and a half or longer if on a higher difficulty. It's an oldie, but I still play it. Great, yet simple game play. A classic!

Replay?
Like any beat em up or fighter, it depends on how much you like the game. I find it fun to go back every once in a while and beat the game over again. Also, beating it on hardest to get those special options adds some replay to it just for that feeling of accomplishment. Other than that, it's fun to play every once in a while.
