Oh, does this game bring back memories. It was the first Atari 2600 game I received as a kid. I spent countless hours playing this on my Atari. But I never got past the last level where you actually save the princess.

Then Nintendo reissued it for the NES. The graphics were better but it was still a little too hard for me.

But then came the year 1994. I remember that year of my life being chock full of surprises. And among them was the release of Donkey Kong for the Nintendo Gameboy. I longed for it so badly but I never got around to buying it.

While on one of my action figure searches I came across a site named abctoyz. And much to my surprise they didn't just carry action figures! They also had old Gameboy games. And there it was on the list of games they had for sale. It was only 4 bux so I thought what the heck, pick it up for a price like that. I wondered if I would still love it as much as I use to.

I do.

My main problem with the other two versions were it seemed that Donkey Kong was way too powerful. For a monkey anyway. And Mario just seemed a little...wussy. I mean, he couldn't even fall from about 1 foot above the ground! If he does, instant death. That’s no way for Nintendo's icon to die.

Thank God Nintendo fixed this problem. Mario can now do handstands, and really high backflips! And what else is really great is that if you start falling from too high, then you can try and maneuver Mario around in the air so he won't fall on his head and die.

And not only that! They also gave it even greater sounding music, and better graphics! This is one of Gameboys masterpieces.
