What was one of the best racing games for the Genesis? Road Rash 2, of course. You must win twenty-five motorcycle races on this game.
You race in the following states: Alaska, Hawaii, Tennessee, Arizona, and Vermont. You must finish the race in 3rd place or better to qualify.
When you qualify on the first five races, you go to the second level. You must race in the same five states but the races get longer. You must race in these five states through five levels. Each new level you reach makes the races longer.
Watch out for cops. The police ride on motorcycles and try to knock you off your bike with their clubs. If they succeed, you go to jail.
Other bikers will try to knock you off your bike as well. P.E. number 1 tries to knock you off more than anyone else, so watch out for her.
You can steal two weapons from other bikers: A club and a chain. You can only have one of these weapons at a time. You can use the weapons to knock both bikers and cops off their motorcycles. A chain will knock bikers off faster. If you have no weapons, you can knock bikers off by punching them.
There are a couple of lady bikers in this game. One dumb thing that EA corrected in the 3rd Road Rash was that when the lady bikers get knocked off their bikes, they sound like men when they scream.
On certain states, there are power lines, but EA only put the poles; There are no lines on them. Back in 1993, I thought the reason it had no lines was because it was for this weak game system, but one of the Playstation Road Rashes also has poles without lines.
I've loved Road Rash 2 since I bought it ten years ago. It's fun. Let's cross our fingers and hope that EA makes Road Rash for the PS2, Xbox, or GC.
I give Road Rash 2 a six.
