Ristar- That one name says so much for me. It was my favorite genesis game when I was younger and it still is today. When I was a child, the music was so lighthearted that it gave me a certain feeling of hope and happiness in my life. But onto business: Most people don't know what Ristar is. This is because Ristar was not the most successful video game mascot. Nonetheless, he is, in my book. The story is that an evil alien force has amassed a large army of alien parasites that possess the creatures of planets. This is all part of the alien dictator Greedy(stupid name)'s plan to take open the universe. Also, Greedy imprisons the legendary hero, who is not named, or seen, they just show a crude statue. Then they show the last remaining inhabitants of Planet Flora sending a mystic star out to beg for help. This plea is answered by "The legendary hero"'s son, Ristar. So I'm going to assume that Ristar's father looks like him, just bigger and a bit older looking. Anyway, in the game, as Ristar, you travel to each planet to free it of the power of Greedy's parasite aliens. You go through two stages on each planet. On the third stage, you fight a boss. The boss of each planet is the king of the planet that has become slave to the alien parasite. After defeating each kind, you free the parasite, and then travel to the next planet. Sounds repetitive, but actually it isn't. Each planet has a different environment. Forests, oceans, volcanoes, ice covered planet. The bosses are very cool and original, but the harder bosses are very annoying, but if you use the save feature with the Emulator and save before each battle, you can keep fighting till you learn their attack pattern, and defeat the boss sometimes without him damaging you once. This game was clearly designed for children, but its level of difficulty still has me frustrated at times. To this day, I can still not defeat Greedy. But it is a very good game for kids and adults.
