The thing about Rampage is that I know there are at least three versions out there, because that's how many I've personally played. The version I played the most was the NES version, but I think my favorite version was the arcade version, which was very similar to the Sega version. For Rampage, you chose a character to smash the hell out of a few buildings in a North American town or city. The NES version limited your choices to a giant ape or a giant lizard, which was OK, but I liked the arcade version because you could choose a giant wolf as well, and personally, I think the wolf fit my personality the best.

As I said before, the premise of this game was smashing the hell out of buildings. It was a great way to relieve stress after a hard day of collecting junk to play with or use in my super-secret closet experiments. If I was at home, I'd pop the cart into my NES and start pounding away. Of course, I'd prefer to go for the arcade version because I liked the wolf best, but that's beside the point.

Anyway, you had the standard three lives and a life meter at the top of the screen. Depending upon what you ate and how many of the little soldiers actually managed to hit you with their various weapons, your meter would change. I liked this game because deep down, I'm a violent little punk, and let's face it, how many of you gamers, especially you male gamers, out there aren't violent little punks deep down?

There's a whole list of games I'd like to see have a truly massive re-release for the PS 2, and this one's top of the list, not only because it's a great game, but because they'd have to put the "Wolfie" character back in, and I could smash buildings the way I did in grade school.
