I stand amazed that this game has not been reviewed yet.

This may be one of the most famous freeware games out there, even though it has an ASCII interface. The entire thing is in text and you control a smiley face moving around the screen. Your "Player" has the ability to shoot degree signs at enemies, which makes them disappear.

The game itself pretty good, and I'll get to that, but the big thing that stands out about this game is that it has an internal editor, in other words, it comes with a way to make your own worlds, complete with a programming language! Spiffy!

The game comes with six ready-made worlds: Town, Dungeon, City, Caves, Demo, and Tour. The first four are real games, the other two are unique. Demo is a demonstration of the editor, and Tour is a guided tour of all ZZT's (which stands for Zoo of Zero Tolerance) other worlds.

The best part of all this, however, is the games that other people make. Many, many of them are on a page called Z2, the url is zzt.the-underdogs.org.

However, keep in mind that not all people are very good at ZZTing. 3/4 of the games on the archive are total shit, so be a connisuer and eat the quality shit.

One last note: ZZT's sound is its only downfall. It's crappy non-speaker sound, turn it off if you don't want the neighbors to hear.
