LOOT!!

Being Free Comic Book Day and all, my mother and i decided to go out and get free comic books. Now i am home with some of the best loot EVER. EVER.

As we made our way to Alliance Comics in Bowie, we found a few yard sales. At said yard sales i gained:

1.
+ small garfield plush
+ two small styrofoam airplanes

2.

+M.A.S.K. honeycomb centerfold ^
+fancy ball-bearing yoyo
+ Bowser Plush

Then, we got to the comic shop, which was full of little kids who liked to be annoying. At said comic shop i decided to pick up a few issues of a few comics i heard folks talking about on these boards, as well as a few back issues of old favorite characters.

+Preacher #34
+Preacher #22
+Starman #16
+Hellblazer #38
+Moon Knight 2 of 4 (?)
+Frank Miller's Robocop preview
+Shidima #7
+Hellspawn #16
+The Mighty Thor #394
+The Mighty Thor #395
+The Might Thor Annual #16
+The Mighty Thor #375
+Arcanum #8

Following this shop, we went to another in Glen Burnie. The back issues were all $2 or more, so i only bought a Starman issue and a Spider-Man issue, but got four free comics when my mom and i both got a pack of two.

+Starman #0
+Spider-Man #1
+Ultimate Spider-Man #1
+Wolverine #185
+Transformers Armada #1
+Nocturnals #1

Saturday also happened to be the day of a book sale at the local Moose Lodge, so i picked up five good books, and one in-fucking-credible treasure.

+"Headliners" by Jay leno
+Garfield Loses His Feet by Jim Davis
+Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Final Lesson by Astrid Holm, Illustrated by Franc Mateau
+"GamePro's Mortal Kombat Strategy Guide", full of tons of art for the game
+Tron - The Storybook

All good books, right? Well here it is. The best find all day, better than everything else combined:

That's right. A book about rap. A boook that will teach me how to speak rap, how to dance to rap, what rappers are very popular out there "today", and it even features exclusive black-and-white photos of ALL MY FAVORITE RAPPERS! Thank you Parachute Press, because this book will change my life. Now i know how to speak street, and how to "chiil" with my "homeboys". BEST BOOK EVER.

My day got even better afterward. All you can eat pizza for four bucks. Guess what was in the restaurant? THE SIMPSONS ARCADE GAME! Yes, the one that ran off the TMNT II engine, and featured Marge, Lisa, Homer, and Bart. I got to level four on my first and only quarter, but i had to leave before i could beat the thing. Don't worry arcade game, I'LL BE BACK. >:

I capped the day off with the Purchase of Opeth's "Deliverance" album, which is totally awesome, and i did it all between 10:30 and 2:00 today. BEAT THAT, BITCHES.

This shit was real? Fuck. I just thought it was a joke. :(

Ah well, Rog knows how CT is. If I went into a store asking for free comics, I'd get laughed and and stabbed with DBZ figures.

Jamesman, there's a bunch of stores in connecticut that are/were participating in Free Comic Books Day. http://www.freecomicbookday.com/fcbd_locator.asp

Just enter in your zip code and go get your free comics if any of the stores are still open.

As for what I got, I'll post them later cuz I don't have them with me at the moment, but I got quite a nice stack of free comics all from ONE store hahaha.

And Ninjavenom, you absolutely MUST let me see that RAP book. I'd love to read it and maybe even do a write-up on it. I mean, come on... nobody raps like Millia Vanilli. NOBODY. That Tron book is nice too. Glad to see at least some of you are getting out for Free Comic Books Day!

I feel so cheated. :(

Rog, you and Proto should do a Free Comic Day follow-up Minimock, in which you have a slumber party and read the comics you scored...

And then make a Pickleman comic.

Starman is a pretty cool book, actually. I only read halway through issue sixteen and liked it enough to buy Issue 0 when i saw it in the second store. I liked how they pointed out the cliché of villains returning just to piss off the hero, and the hero seems like he's not the superhero type. That's the impression i get from the first 13 pages, anyway. :/ I'm gonna read them over the rest of the weekend and tell ya what i think of 'em then.

Jack isn't. He's just doing this to continue the Starman legacy. In my opinion, the main theme of Starman is family.

I got a lot of free shit that I don't feel like mentioning, because it's all the same free shit that most other people got basically.

While I was in there today though I finally bought:

V for Vendetta
Batman: The Killing Joke (a real Alan Moore kind of day)
Stormwatch: Force of Nature (the beginning of the Warren Ellis run)
