ah, that time of year. prom. all the anorexic girls at school are starving up to fit into their small prom dresses. I tried jamming a stick of butter down their throats because they're gonna DIE and they ran away screaming "she's gonna make us fat! aieeeee!" what do ya DO with these strange, vagrant, nomadic, non-ovulating gals?
cunts.

Or show them this stuff to scare them into rethinking their eating habits. :(

Sad what some women will do themselves...

You know whats ironic? Studies show that men prefer women who are slightly heavier than they think they should be.

I saw a video in health class where we were supposed to feel sorry for these 45 pound Anoerxics, and i refuse to do so. They did it to themselves, why should i feel sorry for them? Some of them were so far gone up they wouldn't even drink water when offered to them. That's just plain fucking disgusting that someone can be that obsessive over looks.

Well, it depends. I'm not going to feel guilty because someone tells me society is to blame for Anorexics believing they're fat and have to be stickfigures to be accepted - it's a mental illness as far as I'm concerned - but I do feel somewhat sorry for them. Intentional self-destructive behavior is rotten to look at and there's so little you can do to help a person who doesn't want to be helped. It makes me angry at, and sorry for them at the same time.

I see it as just one way in which a larger personality problem, specifically obsessive-compulsive behavior, can manifest itself ... one aspect of a bigger problem. If it isn't annorexia, I'm sure they would display some other irrational behavior they couldn't control. Perhaps vanity has a little to do with the way that their obsessiveness manifested itself but that's not really getting at the root of the problem. It's certainly no reason to get angry with that person. I think it's just sad. :(

I'd probably have felt sorry for them if the video hadn't portrayed them as if they were born with one leg and one eye, and were raped constantly as children. It had kept trying to make us feel sorry for them, even though they had willfully starved themselves to near-death in an attempt to "look good". It had spent a good section of time at a home for anorexics, and what really burned me was when one of them said "i'm too fat". She got on the scale and weighed sixty-three fucking pounds. It's a psychological illness, yes, but the person brought it on themself. I can see their point of view if they had been taught to starve themselves as children or something, but they all started in the mid-teens. They knew what they were doing, and they were told what would happen if they kept doing it. I look at it like they chose to go down the darkened road full of dead tress and corpses, and they walked out maimed nearly to death. Anyone that chooses a road like that knows what they'll be like when they get out, and by not choosing the dirt road on the side of the mountain, they came out ruined, and it's their own fault.

so w/o being anorexic, what is too skinny. I'm 5'3"105 and people are always telling me I'm bony, but I eat like a horse. I have a really fast metabolism so I haven't gained weight since about the 9th grade (11 yrs). Others say, I have a fat ass. I realize it's all about preference but what is just normal/the median?

punkgrrrlie10,as far as I can tell, what is considered the 'norm' in apperances is often a combination of parameters, among them current cultural trends and whatnot, but most prominent of which is the relation of one's body parts to each other. Partly speculation I guess, but it's said that the human body is composed of a series of golden ratio's. The ideal size of say, the front teeth and the ones next to them is smaller by the ratio 1 : 0.68. Same goes for eyes/nose, lower/upper arm and so on. The human brain is hardwired to relate such symmetry with beauty, which in turn one of the basic criteria when choosing a mate. So I guess what would be considered a safe norm when it comes to asses is their relation to the width of ones shoulders. Simple application of said ratio would provide some rough estimation.

However, culture, as said, stands to create small superficial alterations to this instinctual code (see current fashion model of beauty, or say the type of physique favoured in aboriginal tribes), but still, it's pretty much trustworthy.

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a King
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen

You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave them burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen

If you are high school age, middle class, and 20-40 pounds over weight, start smoking pot. Your parents won't be able to give you more than 5-10 dollars per day, for "food". You will naturally not buy lunch/snacks, to afford dimes/dubs. If you don't eat after you smoke, you will loose weight. And since you've spent your food money on pot, you're half-way there.

I've lost about 10 pounds this way~

FS
Jun 2nd, 2003, 05:30 PM
But doesn't pot usually stimulates the appetite?

noob3
Jun 2nd, 2003, 05:46 PM
Yes, and that's why it's so good. It speeds up your metabolism, maybe it burns calories or fat or something. I just know I have lost alot of wieght on it. It's really not hard to avoid eating while on it, ciggerettes will calm your appetite, but I don't smoke them. Alot of my pothead friends do, and they are all thin. They all stopped eating school lunches to save up their lunch money to buy pot. And it shows.

If you're feeling bad about being overweight, I suggest you look into exactly why it makes you feel that way. Is it because you find your body unable to operate as you'd want it to (or some other misc. functionary issue), or is it because you think it makes you unatractive? If it's the latter, then I think the problem is much more psychological than physical. Losing weight might seem to fix such complexes, but all it really does is make them irrelevant. Not good.

But what do I know, all the girls wanted me in highschool :|

Dole
Jun 26th, 2003, 06:46 AM
"It speeds up your metabolism, maybe it burns calories or fat or something. " -thats not true. Pot just fools your body into thinking its hungry. And it makes everything taste oh so good.
If you want to lose weight it HAS to be a sensible diet and exercise. There is no other safe way....try walking more. People are too reliant on their cars these days.

Actually, I've always wanted to gain weight, that's been my problem. I've finally put on some weight in the past year since I started taking martial arts and working out a bit, but still, I'd like to put on more weight. It probably has something to do with the fact that I only eat one really good meal per day. For breakfast I maybe have a pop-tart or somethin, and for lunch I have peanut butter sammiches almost every day. I only drink ginger ale and juice (fruit punch). Dinner I normally eat a bit more though... huge portions of spaghetti, stir fried beef (with no veggies and a lot of soy sauce), pizza, breads, etc etc.

But back to the whole weight thing, it's the same old story... people will always compare themselves with those who are famous and in the public eye and have tons of money to spend on personal trainers and make-up and crazy health foods. It's no wonder there's so many people that feel like shit about themselves... and while I might think they look very attractive, they'll still insist they're "ugly" or "too fat" or whatever. It's a very sad thing indeed :/

FS
Jun 26th, 2003, 10:58 AM
I'm more or less the same. Don't eat regularly enough - just a quick bite for breakfast, another somewhere around lunch, then dinner, and often later in the evening I start really eating again. It's probably not healthy. :(

I've always been skinny, but I'm kinda short too. So basically, I'm puny. :( I don't expect to be getting much taller, so I'd like to fill out some more.

I dont eat as often as I need to either. I think a big part of that though is I dont eat when I dont have to. I think people eat even if they dont have to alot of the time. I think alot of time people also eat cause they like to. Personally I dont really care, I dont really love eating like alot of people and dont have "favoriate foods" or foods I would just "die for". And I think because of that I will never be overwieght.

Stop calling it ginger beer damnit!

The only fruit I really eat is bananas. I don't mind them at all, I just often forget to buy them or bother eating them. As for veggies, I'll eat peas (though I'm very picky about what kind), potatoes, and corn. That's about it.

Alot of ectomorphs on this board apparently. First some terms:

Endomorph: Roughly 80% of people are endomorphic in body type. They are on the shorter end of the scale, gain fat easily, and gain muscle a little less easy, but easier that ectomorphs. Endomorphs main benifit is very strong bones.

Mesomorphs: About 5% of people make us this group. They gain muscle very easily and at the same time have a high metabolism, so little fat. Athletes and models are usually in this category.

Ectomorphs: 15% of course. They are usually tall, may have an abnormally small frame size, and have an extremely hard time putting on any weight whatsoever, which some would consider a boon of genetics. (mostly people who aren't ectomorphs)

There are combinations on the three and such, but most people tend to have the characteristics of one in particular. The simplest route for each type is as follows (There are better, but more complicated ways to get a good body):

Endo: Maintain roughly a 2400 cal. diet (2000 for the ladies) consiting of 40% protein and 60% fat/carbs, with at least 30 grams of fiber. Cardio is a must. girls should do a cycle routine (low weights, short breaks, high reps) for weight training. Boys should do a split routine (Specific muscle groups on specific days, consisiting of 5-8 excersies, 12-20 sets in total, 8-12 reps per excersise).

Meso: Fuck you cunts.

Ecto: Adjust your calorie intake accordingly by increasing gradually and watching your weight gain. You should have the same diet as the Endo's, but with higher calories. Cardio is nice, but probably would just sabatoge your gains by increasing your metabolism. Same training as Endo's.

CaptainBubba

I saw your pic. You need cardio, and about a 1800-2000 cal diet. (1400-1600 if your up to it.) If you're willing to and able to, then do a weight routine. I'd always suggest a weight routine for guys, because muscle looks good and the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism, which makes losing fat easy (In a cutting phase of one month I lost 20 pounds, or 25 if you include water weight).

I'm certain I'm a mesomorph. I have a compact frame, and people in my family tend to be overweight, so I work out a lot. My boyfriend is an ectomorph and is very tall and thin, so when we cuddle it is tricky to get our bodies situatied together comfortably.
