Goddamn, it took me 2 days just to go through all of the images that were sent in and get them optimized and ready for the web, and then I still had to do all of the commentary.
Well anyway, let's get on with the contest results!

Lars' was Genius, and Spectre's and Crunch's were surprisinly well drawn. :o

Your entry was pretty damned good too man... I know you spent a good chunk o' time drawing it on paper and then later scanning it in for animation.

Yeah, I enjoyed the hand drawn ones the most. Ninjer did pretty damn good.

See, this is why you don't advertise on Newgrounds. I have a headache now from all the phallus-shaped objects killing George W. Bush.
I really wish I had had the time to complete my two entires, even though they would have sucked.
First one was those gag guns, that the "BANG!" flags come out of. But the points were sharpened so you could like, stab people in the eyes.
The second one was dedicated to Laci Peterson, called the Post-Mortem Baby Launcher. Find a pregnant lady, kill her, hoist her up on your shoulder, aim, and let the body do its thing as the fetus is shot out like a gooey cannonball. Good for one use only.

I was going to draw a 2-minute sketch of the postal guy hugging kids with "LOL" really big above all their heads.
But I lacked the willpower and dedication.
I don't like to point fingers, but it's definitely all your collective faults.

Wow, someone actually liked it. I screwed up with the coloring. Again, I was kinda mad that the Flash animations won again, because Pox's looked the best.

If the entries were based on looks alone, Pox might have won 1st place... but that's not all that I was judging the contest on. And the winning entry wasn't a flash animation, it was a hand-drawn animated GIF. And Pox isn't hurting, he won prizes in the last two contests, not a bad job at all.
And LegoLars, your pic was indeed quite a standout amongst all of the entries.

hey Mock, water ballons are actually imune to hydrochloric acid. it's becasue they're made of rubber, and rubber isn't dissolved by hydrochloric acid.

Yeah, I admit, my entries might have looked the best ( as in most well-drawn/ well-colored) but I wasn't inspired. Still.. paper saw... But I think the winning entri could have used more work! I mean, at least some ink, or some more color! But the idea was pretty funny. The second one is just so weird it's funny. I didn't understand half of what was happening in there, but Tf music and that slow-mo pong miss ( always seemed to me that the computer did that on purpose, you know, calculating the exact angle they'd have to send it back so you'd miss it for sure.. and then making your little paddle "shorter").
Some of the other entries, like, the stick figure one sucked, and people's obsession with acid seems rather disturbing. I like the Shotgun-Drill combo, the art was pretty nifty. Cap's was ok too, I reckognized it from the Art forum. I must introduce the world to the magic of Photoshop coloring :)
All-in-all, a pretty cool load of entries, but still none to match the Will Smith animation from the Chris contest, and none to match the incredible "lol" factor of that Mushu/Mushi ( whatever, it's not like I was going to study those things) blunder.

Hell, I'm glad to contribute at least something to the site mock.
But as you said, I really need to put down the crackpipe. :rolleyes

Yea, I colored it in colored pencil. The first drawing with the ink looks badass, but I should have Photshopped the coloring. >: Spectre X's drawing was pretty funny. That should have been put up a page or two. I didn't understand the movie of the 2nd place winner. Ninja's was good too.

wow, damn good job guys. PoxPower yours were really well done. And a nice job to Specter X as well. And Congrats to the winner. :)

That should have been put up a page or two.
Uh they weren't ranked in order from best to worst with the others pages... they were simply listed alphabetically. So what page he's on has no bearing on how good or bad his entry is.

Since skill apparently isn't a prerequisite to winning these, I didn't see the point in entering.
But in all seriousness, I realize it's your site and all, but perhaps you could have a panel of judges on the next one? It's not like you don't have the staff and they aren't capable of making reasonable decisions. As much as I'm sure you don't care, the only contest on which people seemed to agree with the winning selections was the Hateful Chris one. We were the most negatively vocal about the winner of the zombie one, which was understandable, given that it sucked more than anything that has ever sucked before.
The site is your baby and I understand that you want to have complete control over the content, but it wouldn't be where it is without the differing opinions and input of the staff. Those of us that have watched it mature would appreciate their representation on these highly subjective matters.
And besides, your taste in art is gay.

Said the lad with my little pony pants. :rave
The staffers are always welcome to look over the entries, but if you think I'm going to email a ton of pictures to them or put them all up on the web in advance just so they can judge 'em, that's just not gonna happen. If they wanna come over here and judge with me, I always welcome it. And for the record, Re helped judge this contest too.
As for whether you or other people agree with my judgements in contests, that's your problem. I'm taking the time to run the contest and look at all of these entries, and I'm spending the money to ship out the free prizes which I wouldn't mind keeping for myself. I think the winners did a fine job on their entries... same goes for the Mutsu contest, Hateful Chris, etc.

Uh, if you have to upload the images anyway, why not just upload them before you write the HTML and show the staff the directory all the images are in for input? It's no more work for you one way or the other.

Cuz it takes quite a while to get the images formatted for the web and by that time I've already judged the contest and am ready to put the results up for everybody who's been anxiously awaiting them. And I'm not going to upload all of the images when I first get them for the judges to see... half of them are 600k or more. Like I said, I'm more than happy to judge these contests on my own just as I don't mind other people coming over to help judge them.
If ya don't like the criteria I judge the entries on, well then... I guess you have a wonderful topic to write about in your new livejournal.
Lego should have won this contest.
He did, we're just not telling him.

I don't get why the Flash movie got 2nd place. I mean, I know you have a boner for Flash (kidding), but I couldn't read half the text, the animation was poop, and blah blah blah. I'm trying not to complain, but I really wonder what was so great about it that made it win.
I think your next contest should be people design a sidekick or arch-nemesis for Pickleman, and the winner gets a Pickleman lithogram, autographed by Poxpower and Rog.

That sounds like a good contest. :)
I thought this contest was a pretty decent one. I have no problems with the judging, because it was all fair. You should keep the contests coming. I still haven't figured out the plot in the 2nd place winner :/ , but it was so dumb it was funny.

Wow, a litho! It would take some effort to have both of us autograph it and all, but it would definately be cool! I'm starting to want one too...
