View Full Version : Why I love Canada.

I make my home in Ottawa, a city of about 800,000 people. Last week a real tragedy occurred here, an eldrly man with a history of relatively minor mental problems beat his elderly wife to death in her bed with an axe.

This is of course awful and tragic, so why does this event make my extra-pleased to live in Canada?

Beacuse this awful event, happening on the second week of May, was Ottawa's first murder of the year. I dare you to find a city in the world of comperable size which can say that.

Ottawa is a soul-sucking hell on earth. I heard that in Kanata (a suburb of Ottawa) there is an actual by-law preventing home owners from painting their homes different colours than their neighbours. I live downtown Ottawa and it is the most boring, dead, and annoying place on earth - and I was raised in northern Ontario.

Toronto is annoying too, in its pathetic attempt to seem like an American city, but Ottawa is in a league of its own.

In a month I will be in Montreal and I will never look back. Canada in general sucks but especially Ottawa hurts my feelings.

All kidding aside, you're right. I'm hating this city as of late.

Montreal? Do you speak French? If you don't you'll have a nice time, if you do you'll see what insufferable assholes the French are.

Sorry Daphne. I lived in Toronto for a year and have family there. It's probably my favourite place in Ontario, which isn't saying much.

No, I don't speak French. I can understand most of it, but I couldn't hold a conversation if my life depended on it.

Winnipeg has had 8 murders so far, I think. All of our drunk Natives keep fighting each other, a little Filipino kid got killed outside a bar and the Hell's Angels just killed another person. :(

I live in Toronto too, and I'm sick of all the crap that the municipal government is pulling to try to encourage people to come here.
We have announcments on the subway where ex-Toronto Leafs say how great the city is, and that you're evil for not going apeshit and going to every damn tourist trap.

Is this actually enforced or is this just a blue law?

I'm not certain, but judging by the houses in that area I've seen, it is at very least abided by. There is also a similar by-law there which prohibits hanging laundry outside for - I'm assuming - fear of looking "lower class".

Ya, Canada is ok....i live there. One problem though, is that Quebec is still attached. We should just let them make their own damn country, those whinney bastards. The west is where its at. And even though ive been in french immersion, i think canada should drop the whole french-canadian bullshit.

he beat her to death with an axe? So in violence points, that's the equivalent of like 10 murders right there. We go for quantity here in LA, not quality.

I think Mockery's hamburger joke was a reference to "mad cow disease". Just a guess, though. :)

First of all, the bylaw can be easily challenged on constitutional grounds. Secondly, not one single Kanata property owner has ever made an official complaint. All you keep getting is bullshit criticism from little assclowns that don't even own property in the area. So to answer your question, the answer is no, there wasn't ever a need to enforce the bylaw, and its now irrelevant because the city of Kanata is no more. It amalgamated with the city of Ottawa, and its bylaws no longer exists.

I am kind of late on this subject but for god sakes I would eat a burger in any canadian city over a burger in a Buffalo strip mall. I still feel safe in my hospitals because I know that they are vigilant and will over come S.A.R.S and I even though Toronto is a boring city I feel safe and I look forward to a beer and swimming and fishing in Cottage country in the summer and knowing that Americans pay big bucks to fly up here to fish and I just have to drive a few hours north to see some of the most beautiful country in the world. Canada is rough around the edges but so are Canadians. :)

There has only been 1 case in Alberta, and some farms in BC and Alberta have been quaritined for safety. There was only 1 cow, your retard. Lemmie guess, your some dumbass kid who watched the AMERICAN news and though that he knew everything....well you are not, so maybe you should check the story before making an ass out of yourself.
