All these "goths" I've ever seen just bitch about their life. "Oh, woe is me, a vampire in a mortal body" shit. Or the whole "tortured artist" bit. That shit is gay.

Why don't you stop bitching and do something with your life instead. Like beat your problems with large, heavy objects and quit being a homosexual. I think you'll find that it's quite theraputic.

In other words, they do it to simply look different or be part of the established group - which is kind of a paradox, because you can't be different if you are part of a stereotype.

Anyway, a lot of goths wouldn't shop at Hot Topic if you put a gun to their heads. Most genuine ones shop at thrift stores.
I must confess, occasionally I do dress "gothic", but mainly when I am around a lot of older or mainstream people, because it irritates them. And I don't do the ruffles and veils and shit. Fucking ridiculous. When I am around goths, I dress normal, because it irritates them. :)

yeah, but if you wanted to, you could find those online as well... 98% of their stock at any given time sucks horribly. Ive bought only 3 or so t shirts from there, only because it saved me the hassle of finding em online.

Hot Topic does have some decent clothing. But I hate people who go there and think they are hardcore, or act like they are an outcast even though they are surrounded by people just like them.

i don't dress at all. i coat myself in coagulated blood and blood products. it allows me to spend my money on integral things like black eyeliner and satanic icons. and, let's face it, anything fetid rules.
