I sympathize. I've been at college for 3 yrs now and I never made any real friends. I had a pseudo-friend for awhile but she was later diagnosed as being bipolar and her parents made her come home.

My real problem is that I won't call people for the first time until they call me for the first time. I also won't go to large social events by myself or even with peolpe I kind of know because I freak out and have to leave.

I was really lucky with my college situation. The housing system at Chicago forms groups of people around most of whom you'll spend all four years, so getting to know them is hardly a choice. I just happened to get along really well with some of them, which really worked out great for my asocial nature.

I usually feel bad if I don't go to a party, but I seldom enjoy myself if I do. Tough shit, I guess.

Yea thats how I got to know my friends at college. We dont live there anymore but most of us still talk some. I normally wouldnt have been friends with most of them but I guess when you all live near each other things are different. Most of what brought us together was video games and teaming up to talk shit to other floors in the dorm.

I hate going to parties and I dont mind being alone alot. I guess I am antisocial.

Friends are overrated. I'm the most interesting person I know that I can hold a conversation with, so there's really no point in ever getting to know anybody else.

I hate parties unless they're small. The only reason I go to parties is to drink anyway. :(

I'm in Ottawa right now and none of my friends live here. I've been bored as fuck since I've been here, and haven't been able to make any new friends... a lot of aquaintances, but nobody I'd feel comfortable calling up and saying 'hey let's hang out'. Thankfully I'll be outta here in a month and living with two of my best friends... but then I'm afraid we'll get sick of each other and then I'll be in a new city where I don't know anybody and I suck at making new friends because I'm the biggest introvert you'd ever meet.

:lol who woulda thought people that spend so much time on the internet would be such LOSERS :lol

I heard that one of my ex roomates gave candy to people make friends. in high school.

I think joining a frat is always a sure way to buy friends and lots of clever t-shirts.

I haven't had a friend for about 14 months now. Seriously. I don't do anything either. Nothing. I sit on my fucking ass all day. I litterally do nothing. I don't watch T.V. And I stopped getting on my computer. I have a job, but I just sit all day there too. I have no substance to my life whatsoever and noone to talk to or socialize with. I don't speak to my parents. I don't speak to my sister. I turn 17 in 5 days. If I can't go back to my old home and go to school with my friends., I just might fucking kill myself because I can't take another year without anyone to be friends with.

And I always considered myself an antisocialite too. :/

I just don't know how. I mean, I can't go up to someone and be like, "Hello, want to be friends?" It worked when I was 4, but not now.

And when I try to get to know someone, it's just me interrogating them with pointless BS questions. They don't ask any questions back, because they just aren't interested in knowing me, and I don't know what to say because I'm apparently boring them to death.

And of course, there's that whole "I'm a loser and nobody wants to hang out with me" thing. Not to mention the "I hate people and don't want to hang out with them" thing.

But, fuck. Buttfuck. :(

I'll only go to a party if I know at least one other person there who I have to arrive with. And then all I do is quietly get drunk and barely talk to anybody except the really creepy drug abuser who brags about how high they've been because I think they're hilarious.

My life is satisfying. >:

Trying to have friends is stupid. Just do what you want and hang out with people you like (whether that be 1 or 5 or 100 or nobody) and be happy with that.

The pressure society puts on us to be super-social is kind of nuts. If you really want to hang out with people, just drop your standards for how enjoyable they have to be. Next time you talk to someone who doesn't seem to have a million friends, say "we should hang out sometime" and give them a call a couple days later. Tada, you have a new boring friend.

Ugh, I can't believe what I'm saying. Like 2 years ago I would think this was all just bullshit, but it actually is just a confidence thing. Crazy.

James, what the fuck do you expect? A pallet of super models, with super personalities to choose from? No, man. Friends are boreing. And they're going to think you're just as boreing. But that's what friends are, man. To be boreing together. And do boring things, that will seem less boreing when you have a boreing friend to do said boreing thing with.

Finding friends? Get a job, go to school. Your new friend will be your boreing co-worker who talks too much, or a guy who you go to school with who is way into gay anime porn.

Dude, Dreamcast can suck nuts, just like you. It had decent graphics, bad marketing, and shitty games. And one of the shittiest controlers. It wont ever beat PS2. Entertainment wise.

Damn, I guess I'm lucky. I have quite a lot of very good friends (and a good fucking lot of you guys on here whom I've met I consider good friends as well). It helps to have a group of friends (or several different groups, so you can be with different crowds and do different things) that all like to hang out together.

Jamesman, I know this sounds cheesy, but you should find a group of people in your area that play D&D and hook up with them. Most gaming stores have bulletin boards where groups who are looking for players advertise. It's a good way to get to know people (although some of them tend to be uber-geeks who you'd rather avoid). I've actually made a lot of friends through playing games like that, but it's also easy to make friends at your job or school.

I made a whole lot of friends my freshman year of college just by discovering people on my hall who had similar interests. It's not that hard, and I'm by no means an extrovert (I fall exactly halfway between intro and extro on the Kiersey sorter)...just find a common interest and roll with that. Hell, I've made one or two friends just by wearing a t-shirt that strikes up a conversation about whatever is on it.

If you're into music, check out the scene around your area. People usually post flyers around the campus. Go to some shows, and some people may come up to you and say they've seen you around the campus, and possibly strike up conversations and even invite you to more shows.

Also afterschool job, meet people who don't go to the same school. Join drama, meet girls, or if that's not your cup of tea you can meet guys...
