I didn't know that about the lyrics. I knew a lot of it was a result of Elfman and Burton throwing shit out in the air and knitting it together afterwards, though. The 'lump' thing, however, I'm pretty sure was from a song Elfman did in his Oingo Boingo days:
Listen, tender lumplings, let me take you by the hands
I'll take you from this hell-hole to the promised land
But don't blame me oh children if those promises don't keep
Cause promises, like lives, can be bought so very cheap
If 'tender lumplings' was what you were referring to, that is.

hehe, actually I couldn't remember what was said to make Tim say "perhaps it's the had that I found in the lake" so I made that bit up ;)
What's your favorite(s) of his films? I love Ed Wood and Mars Attacks! and just about everything except Planet Of The Apes. (:()

Pee-Wee: Great fun. Plus, Twisted Siter cameo :rock
Beetlejuice: One of my favourites, since it's pretty much raw Burton.
Batman: Incoherent, still good.
Edward Scissorhands: Can't say what I would think of it if I saw it for the first time today, but I have really profound nostalgic associations to it. One of Elfman's best scores.
Batman Returns: Seems like I'm the only person on this planet who thinks this the first movie's equal.
Nightmare Before Christmas: Though I've picked up on a lot of weaknesses over the years, it's still one of my favourites. Fantastic design. Practical 3D animation rocks.
Ed Wood: Finally out in reagion 2 DVD! I partied so hard!
Mars Attacks: I like this one more every time I see it. I didn't know what to think when I first saw it, but now I can't help cracking up every few minutes. One of Nicholsons all-time best moments is when he tells the cournal to shut up.
Sleepy Hollow: Liked it a lot for its mood and design, but when the windmill blew up I cringed. A bad omen for what was to come:
Planet of the Apes: I liked it better the second time I saw it, but I still think it's pretty fucking weak.
EDIT: WFT!? http://us.imdb.com/Title?0367594

:lol meet person number 2! I love Batman Returns.

Oh god I know, that's the only part of the movie I really didn't like. Still, it's fun to make fun of that scene. Even Tim does on the commentary ;)

Yeah, doesn't he say something like 'I'm not really sure windmills do that...'?

Beetlejuice, batman, batman returns, sleepy hollow and edward scissorhands are my favorites.
I think edward scissorhands is my #1 favorite though. Love the sets.
Also, I've got a horrible feeling about beetlejuice 2 :(

If it ever sees the light of day, it will be without Burton or Keaton. Also, Beetlejuice will have what the studio calls 'an urban manifestation of himself' as co-star, meaning there will be a black rapper Beetlejuice as well. If it's made, it will suck. I usually hate whan people judge movies before they come out, but this one WILL suck. And not because Beetlejuice couldn't be black (Sammy Davis Jr. was considered for the role back in the eighties), it's because they're making it a buddy movie.

Take this, BOYEE:
Meanwhile Celluloid Shockers talked with actor Glenn Shadix recently who confirmed the talk of a "Beetlejuice" sequel is on the ball - "Michael [Keaton] is now interested in doing a sequel, with Tim [Burton] proposing to produce. They're currently looking for a script and YES, I'd love to be involved. We'll see what happens as the script develops, so I'll know". Thanks to 'Paul' & 'Arbitor'.

There was another script called Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, which could turn out all right. But right now it seems like we'll get Chris Tucker/Rock Beetlejuice, which isn't Beetlejuice. Also, Winona Ryder wouldn't work anymore IMO, and nobody in Hollowood is going to touch Jefferey Jones with a ten-foot pole after the pedophilia case. Let's only hope Otho is in it.

Jeffrey Jones + pedophilia? Huh?
Sorry, I'm completely out of the loop. What the hell happened?

ED WOOD is easily his best film; I love that movie! Sleepy Hollow and Edward Scissorhands are also excellent - his work with Depp is bar none. Everything else he has done has been fine, even PotA which I thought was at least visually entertaining.

The reason Tim Burton is remaking this is because Warner Brothers wants to get the rights to do the sequal. The Dahl estate was unhappy with the original movie because it wasn't dark enough, and wouldn't give up the rights. It is Burton's intent to please the Dahl estate and make a movie that is closer to the book. But from what I heard Planet of the Apes was closer to the book itself. So who knows how this will turn out :(

Oh and as for replacing Jeffery Jones, they should just get Martin Mull. Because I confuse the two all the time anyway.

Nothing has been proved yet, but there are accusations concerning paying young boys money to pose nude for him so he can take photos.
Who's Mull?

I read about him remaking that and it actually sounds like a not bad idea. Burton's style kicks ass so it should be cool to see what he'll do with those rights.

I think that's one movie that could do with a remake, and I hate remakes. He's a perfet choice to do it, too.
I personally think Winona Ryder should have never acted in the first place, but that's just me ;). As for poor Jeffery Jones (and Paul Ruebens) I really hope they can shake these allegations. The 'boys' in question were 17! That's legal in Canada (16 is legal here), I think the media just has it in for them.

As for the Willy Wonka thing... The more I say to myself 'Tim Burton... and Roald Dahl... Tim Burton... and Roald Dahl...', the more right it sounds. This really could work.

There was a rumor for a while that Marilyn Manson was suppose to play the role of Wonka... :/ Then in an interview with OPM, burton denied it, but wouldn't say who was playing Wonka.

Is there any word on Danny Elfman scoring the film?

He probably will. I mean, he's only passed on Ed Wood, and this is the kind of gig he'd grab with both hands.

I hope so. I've been an Elfman fan, since his "Oingo Boingo" days.

Taken from darkhorizons.com:
Charlie & The Chocolate Factory: Now here's an interesting choice - Michael Keaton is rumoured to be up for Willie Wonka in the Tim Burton-helmed remake.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Tim Burton, Danny Elfman and Micheal Keaton making another movie would kick so much ass.
