View Full Version : Half the man I used to be

I've been on a medication for three months now which ambiguously warned of "sexual side effects". What this amounts to seems to be that my libido has been decapitated. Not literally... goddamn that would hurt. Even though I pay just as much attention as ever to any attractive lass I see, the thought of sex now rarely pops up in my mind. It should be obvious what else hasn't popped up in too long. In spite of a week of insomnia, I haven't had any desire to masturbate in the last ten days. It would make sense that I have decreased testerone levels, since I gained very little muscle from a very strenuous six weeks of working out and my facial hair seems to be growing slower.

I know I have no use for virility now that I'm not in a relationship, but I still think it's a good thing to have "just in case". Any suggestions?

Just one little comment. Six weeks is not enough time to see real results. I've been working out for 2 years and probably gained about 20lbs of muscle in total. T.V and commercials are misleading.

As for your virility, unless it is completely abnormal for you and you can tell it is the medicine, could it just be a slow spell of sexual desire? Despite my quasi-obsetion with it, there have been one month periods where I barely even though about masturbation.

Start killing the attractive women to see if it gives you a boner. >:

Actually, some of the pills I'm on make it less fun to entertain thoughts of slicing up people. I consider that a side-effect, too. :(

I've been morally pure for a year and to adress your thought on the "sex could be the most beautiful thing you could do" that is not true if its out of lust.

P.S CHICKS DONT HATE ME

I guess you should only worry if it's the type of meds that you need to keep you from carrying out your thoughts of slicing up people. If it's only temporary, don't worry until you need use of it.

EDIT: An ill-conceived and misplaced joke. I'm sorry because you're usually pretty cool with me. Anyway, I know nothing of psychotropic medication. :(

Seth - I had a crappy therapist who put me on meds when I didn't really need them. Prozac to be exact. Crappy shit made my depression seem like a tea party.
I lost all my creativity, my sex drive, my personallity....I was a zombie.

If the meds are helping you in the way they are supposed to then you may want to take them for the reccomended duration. However, if they aren't helping, or if the side effects are worse you should consider talking to your doc about changing meds. There are a lot out there and what works for one person may not work for another.

In my case, my depression was related to a melatonin imbalance as opposed to serotonin imbalance. Though they are both linked taking meds for the wrong one made things worse.

If your medication doesn't fancy the idea of letting you kill women, you could always kill prostitutes and stuff them in your trunk.

I think that'd lower my milage, dipshit.

Vibe, I'm on Effexor (for seratonin) and Geodon. I'm inclined to believe that it's the Effexor's fault, since these things started when I was on Risperdol instead of Geodon.

My ex was on effexor and it did the same thing to him that it is doing to you.
Pretty common side effect....... :(

Meds work for a lot of people, but psychotherapy is also a good alternative. Actually, a combination of both is best.
