I started reading the articles on this site a year ago and they kicked ass. I even said the creator was a comic genius.

Now I can barely log into this site because of the ads and 1/4 of the front page is banners. I would not mind if the content kicked ass but it has gone way down hill.

What happened to this site? Has mockery become a sell out? What have you done to him.

And don't say "hosting costs". Maddox.xmission.com gets over 1 million hits a month and doesn't have a single banner or donation link. I run an high-bandwidth online store and it costs less than $20 a month for hosting.

The style's changed over the years, but I don't think the humor's really dropped. The new style doesn't fit with me too well so I don't think a lot of the new content is very funny, but that's my 'problem,' not the webmaster's. The forums are a pretty small part of the site, I imagine, for the average visitors, but they're by far the biggest part to me.

Regardless, there's barely any advertising and knowing the owner on pretty much as 'personal' a basis as you can through 4+ years online and all of two local mixed gatherings, I can honestly tell you he spends his life working on and for the site, and what little money he does make from it gets recycled into it. He has yet to ask for donations for the general site and only throws pop-unders into brand new pieces, which themselves are timed to perhaps 2 every 24 hours last time I checked. There's a reason that with 20,000+ page views on slow days he still needs a job outside of the site unlike bone-ons such as Penny Arcade or Newgrounds.

I'm not going to suck anyone's dong here and pretend the site or the board're the most hilarious they've ever been to me, but Rog's catering to his target audience and only getting compensated by the praise of the other brand of idiots you represent who adore him as blindly as you despise him, with equal regard to content.

That said, I'm on my way to dinner. Myself and the staff are all going to order steak and cremé bruleé with all of Rog's ill-gotten I-Mock bling bling.

I thought the site was great when I first discovered it and getting sucked into the community just made it moreso, although obviously it's a different beast to me now.
