I'm planning on making mine and need some advice on making some kind of shoulder pad/armor/whatever. Anyone got any ideas for some budget materials?

Costume for what? Are you going LARPing or something?

Chicken wire if you don't bump into things. Great for frames, etc.
As to give it an armor like looks, I'd say just grab whatever (plastic pots cut down the middle if you want to fishscale) and spray paint a dark gray.
Although, now that I type that, I realize that might be a little er, large.
EDIT: And I'm thinking of going as Indiana Jones. Need a good whip though.

You're not going as some WOW thing, are you?

I am all about the costuming, I - like I-mockery, I am sure - am sorry Halloween only comes once a year. There's very little you can't do with tough enough cardboard and thick enough spraypaint for those rigid costume parts.

Good ideas, no not larping or wow. Just brainstorming at the moment. I've always wanted to have a costume that has some big-ass shoulders.

I'm trying to make a Linda (Evil Dead 1) costume. Shouldn't be too hard with the right makeup and contacts.

Um, football pads maybe?
I was thinking that but I'm trying to stay under 15 bucks.
