Stephen King. Just about everybody has read some of his books or seen some of his movies. Max Burbank has read and seen just about all of 'em and, while he's a big fan of Stephen King, he's still got some complaints about his body of work.

I would believe it. I don't really care for most of his books, I prefer his short stories. I honestly think he works better in short form. His novels, with the exception of his early ones, tend to drag on far too long.

I liked the Gunslinger, but thought it should have remained a standalone.

This article got forked and has had like, 5000 some odd hits at this point. Of those, thirty or so Fark members have commented.

My absolute favorites so far are:

"That was a pretty crappily written article." Because that is a pretty crappily written sentence

and

"The Langoliers was a good escapist read and was adapted to a made-for-TV movie. My advice for anyone crying over made-for-TV movies is this: Leave your basement and kiss a girl. "

Which is great just as a stand alone comment, but is made even more awesome by the fact that it is part of the single longest comment in the thread, about five hundred words. IRONY!

I agree about the sewer orgy, Max. I never forgot that scene, and though I read it many years ago, I do remember reading it and thinking, "why the hell is this in here?" It's important to remember that King was always drunk and doing an insane amount of blow at that time, and call me kooky call me wacky, but I'd have to think those two things contributed to that.

But yeah. Icky, indeed.

Upon further examination, since there was only one girl, I think that scene is really more of a "sewer gang-bang" than "sewer orgy." Which gives it that little touch of class that it needs.
