Yes Oingo boingo was one of the most under rated bands of the 80's. I remember growing up listening to there pop rock sounds mixed with a touch of punk. Private life will always be one of my favorite songs.

Oingo Boingo will always be one of my favorite bands. My mom bought me their Skeletons in the Closet Best-of and I cherish it. I like Stay and Insanity a lot.

Any band fronted by the guy who brought us the soundtrack to Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (Danny Elfman) is AOK in my book. Weird Science!

For those new to Oingo Boingo, I more strongly suggest the album "Best O' Boingo". I feel it's more representative of the full range of work. Also, new commers should avoid "Boingo" as it's something of a departure from the band's usual material. That said, fans of Elfman's orchestral work will likely enjoy it alot. And lastly, all Oingo Boingo fans would do well to pick up Danny Elfman's "So-Lo". Despite the name, it's the full OB lineup. This album simply features songs OB had been performing for years that never seemed to fit on their regular releases.

You and everyone else should get their farewell live cd. I love those live versions of the songs because they are arranged a bit different and sound better.

The band - Great.

This release - Not so good.

Personally I never bother with "best of" albums. If I want to get into a new band, I talk to friends and surf the web until I find out what their generally accepted to be best songs are, then get my hands on them. If those are good, I acquire the albums containing those songs, and see how good it is.

Make your own "Best Of." That's what iTunes singles are for, after all!

Oingo Boingo is awesome, Danny Elfman led a great band. It so unfortunately that he will never put the band back together because of his ear condition. Oh well, I guess my Oingo Boingo ring tone will have to do. :(

I think I'm confusing Oingo Boingo and Scissor Sisters.

If you truly want the best of, purchase every album you can. It's too hard to make a single disc or even a two disc set of all of there greatest hits. Granted that they didn't get much airplay other than Weird Science and Dead Man's party, but what about the underrated gems like No One Lives For ever or Goodbye Goodbye at the end of Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Every song they have done is great. Here is an awesome Budwiser commercial they were in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDll74IfjbE

EDIT: I just realized I still need to buy all the albums I have tempoary MP3 files untill I actually buy them all. I Own the 1st EP, Dead Man's Part, Skeletons in the Closet, and a ton of demos and outtakes.

P.S. Good luck finding 'Good For Your Soul' for a good price. I saw it on amazon for 50 something dollers on amazon used

i just bought "Dead Man's Party," and i rank it right up there with the Talking Heads' "Speaking in Tongues" for ultimate greatness! viva la nu wave, la post-nu-wave, and any of the other tacky, exhuberant, magical, addictive music from the best decade ever!!!
