Ironically, your first paragraph kind of points out the movie's major flaw- its only flaw, granted, but one that made it merely OK in my eyes. Daniel Day-Lewis is nothing short of spectacular in this movie but the storyline doesn't really build me up for anything, and the ending just... comes. And then you ask yourself, "Is that it?" I really wanted to enjoy this movie, but I couldn't like it to the extent that everyone else did.
