It's just about here!!!!!

I don't count the play in match, which only decides who NC will be beating in the first round, either.

Who do you like? Who do you hate? Who do you think is getting upset in the first round?

I predict Duke gets dropped by Belmont.

In NIT news, Syracuse looked weak to start against Robert Morris.

In NIT news, Syracuse looked weak to start against Robert Morris.

But Minnesota is looking mighty fine.

Tournament wise, I just finished delicately filling out my bracket. Why delicately, you ask? Well, it's soaked with gasoline! This highly violatle bracket features such gambles as Clemson reaching the Elite 8, Drake knocking off UConn, and Temple AND George Mason winning their respective first round matches.

Don't worry though, I've got plenty of gauze and burn cream nearby.

Who else is taking Friday off? I'm going to a friends house who has HDTV. I don't even have cable.

I wanted to take a day of leave for Friday but I have some pointless 5 hour training course on how to train other airmen to operate fork lifts and other equipment. I'm not kidding, the class is called "Train the Trainer".

I can't, March is a busy month for my job sadly. I do get off early though so I will still see a lot of action :)

Belmont is playing some damn good stifling D.

I spent an unhealthy amonunt of time this year looking for the potential dark horse and found out about these guys. They have a sick makeup that can beat any team any night. Their D is pretty top notch. When I saw they got paired against Duke, I knew I HAD to go with the upset.

Now here's hoping they can finish strong! :)

El Blanco
Mar 20th, 2008, 09:12 PM
Duke has been playing piss poor tonight. They are in this game on talent alone. The defense is lacking and the O is unbelievably sloppy. Belmont should have been blown out of the building by now.

Can this be another early exit for the Blue Devils? How many brackets will get shot to hell?

Props to Belmont for taking advantage of the opportunities.

Now George Mason is down to Stupid Irish Catholic School. First Temple, now GM? When will a 12 beat a 5? And don't say Villanova either, I need Clemson to be money for me.

Pentegarn
Mar 21st, 2008, 07:14 AM
OK, I won't say Villanova.

But.... well, you know :P

That was one hell of an opening night, I don't normally get so freaking excited over a first round game, especially a 2 seed versus a 15 seed, but damn, was that a good game! Wisconsin did not impress me with their first half play. That crap may fly against Cal St. Fullerton, but if they bring that junk to Kansas St, they will likely lose. George Mason is apparently the new Gonzaga, whatever I pick them to do, they will do the opposite. Purdue honestly surprised me, i didn't think they had it in them to beat Baylor. I hope today is as exciting as yesterday was :)

El Blanco
Mar 21st, 2008, 07:33 AM
This year is all about the Big East. I have them all winning in the first round (yes, even 'Nova).

nice to see for once Arizona isn't going to fuck up my bracket. They normally do the exact opposite of whatever I pick them to do.

I'm really starting to regret picking Duke for the Final Four.

Colonel Flagg
Mar 21st, 2008, 07:53 AM
Big 10 all the way! On Wisconsin! (Yes, about a chance in hell)

BTW what is that green or red number in the bracket standings? (I think I'm in the top million?) :\

WhiteRat
Mar 21st, 2008, 04:22 PM
San Diego is up 5 on UConn right now.

Pentegarn
Mar 21st, 2008, 05:34 PM
Why is it no matter what I pick Gonzaga to do, they ALWAYS do the opposite?

Every year, same freaking story. I pick them to win, they lose, I pick them to lose, they win.

And while we're on the subject, Gonzaga sounds like a pizza sauce ingrediant.

El Blanco
Mar 21st, 2008, 06:19 PM

3 in the West Region. I had UConn losing to Duke in the Elite 8.

A&M is leading UCLA by 5 with 16 min left. It seems like everyone I know has UCLA getting to the Final Four or winning the whole thing. The Bruins need to go bye-bye for me to salvage my bracket at work.

Colonel Flagg

My west region is completely hosed.

Duke had to lose yesterday, or I would have lost faith in justice throughout the universe.

MSU over Pitt shocked me (and just about everyone else I dare say).

UCLA looked pretty uninspired, I hope this was their one bad game in the tourney.

Today should be pretty interesting.

Esuohlim

MSU over Pitt shocked me (and just about everyone else I dare say).

It makes me feel better that Pitt was only really still in the game because of free throws (I think they made something like 22 free throw shots in the second half). I now wish I didn't bet against my own team, but if we're going to fucking foul like crazy as usual then we're not going to win the next game anyway.

On a separate note, I'm not a Tar Heels fan, but 221 points in 2 games? WTF? They're supposed to be a COLLEGE team, not a PRO team. Plus, they still only play 40 minutes a game, right?

I should have picked UNC to go all the way - they look crazy good right now.

The real irony is everyone's brackets are in shambles despite this fact.
