Use the social skills you've developed and been conditioned to after countless interactions with other people, and find out what kind of person you're dealing with. If you don't have many social skills and tend to be akward, the only way to develop them is to socialise. If you can socialise with people in general, but don't know how to talk to girls, the same applies. You just have to swallow your pride and get on with it. It's uncomfortable at first, but you just have to man it out. Like drinking, after the first few it becomes easy.
