Next time you are at the supermarket look at all the corn tortillas. Regardless of brand they are all made by Gruma Corp. (Mission Foods). On top of that they are all made in Irvington, TX and use the exact same ingredients and have the same nutrition facts :eek

;o everything in the world in the united states is made around there. Try looking at a side of chips or some cereals as well

I've tried making my own before they're kinda good. Just get some maha harina flour or whatever mexican corn flour stuff and add water, and some lard if you want, then cook them up in a griddle or something.

In the valley in Los Angeles we have a tortilla factory Gracianas. Not made by mission foods. I think there is also Guerrero's which are made locally in LA.

It makes tortillas. I think that's the recipe on the back of the bag but I can't remember.
I'm pretty sure pancakes need eggs and baking soda to make it all fluffy :(

baking them in an oven is pretty much the same as cooking them on a griddle except griddling is faster.

The Guerrero's at my local supermarket are the same as all the others. I usually never buy supermarket tortillas because i have dozens of tortillarias and mexican markets within a bike ride of my house. My favorite taqueria makes the tortillas as they make the food. :yum

Yeah, my old GF used to make them too. Fresh is always best when it comes to tortillas.

Heavens to Betsy, Burry's is good
Best darn bakin' in the neighborhood
Slow bakin' is why they're good
(For freshness and taste
You mustn't bake in haste.)
Nobody hurries the bakers at Burry's
Get Slooooow! Bake Burry's!

i love to do experiments with tortillas. you can pretty much wrap any combination of food with it. two of my favorites are cheeseburger wraps (2 beef patties, pepper and onion stir fry, two slices of cheese, add hot sauce), and chicken zucchini wraps with little bit of ranch dressing. mmmmph!

ugh one time somebody made me a tortilla hamburger and it was disgusting. She probably thought that it would be "healthier" with a tortilla or something, but she added egg into the meat and it was all huge and wet and disgusting :(
traditional russian hamburg :(

She was so obsessed with being healthy that she made enchiladas with nothing but squash in them ;\ and she even looked like she was made of squash.

masa shouldn't be abused. the best thing in the world for tamales is mole.

making shreded meat is very easy but it can take a lot of time considering you have to shred it by hand

In some parts of mexico a torta is a sammich and in others it is a cake. Regional variations. I had the other day something called a "flat enchilada" that was really a pupusa filled with cheese, green chile, and corn.

i love pupusas when they have that herb leaf thing inside of it :(

I cringe at the Mexican restaurant when my dad orders "polo sah-nol-a" instead of pollo sinaloa.

The weird thing is that he speaks French just fine, and it's not that different from Spanish.
