My grandmother used to like to make elaborate costumes and enter me and my brother in Halloween costume contests. Mainly I remember having to balance a lot of giant chickenwire heads on my shoulders.

I was the Cabbage Patch Kid (she carried the real one just in case anyone didn't get it). My brother was the mogwai. I was pissed because he got pulled around in a box and I had to walk (I could walk again by that age but still had trouble).

Another year, another giant chickenwire head.

Great that I won the mall costume contest, but you try getting up a set of stairs on a rickety stage in this.
Fortunately, the older I got the more I regressed into nerdiness and the less entertaining my costumes were to people who weren't me.
Your turn.

I would definately post pictures of me from many a past Halloween, but I don't feel like digging them out right now. I've been a Ghostbuster 3 times now (not counting this Halloween), a undead soldier, a pink elephant, the Scarecrow, a Crash Test Dummy, a pumpkin and Ozzy Osbourne.
The undead soldier was done out sheer randomness with all the wacky clothes I buy.

Next year I'm gonna be Jason from F13: The Final Chapter or a zombie greeter from Wal- Mart

my dad forever recalls the time his middle daughter was little bo peep.
... and his only son was her sheep.
"ellen [my mother] told me about her idea and i said 'there is no fucking way you're dressing my son up as a goddamn lamb' but two weeks later he was a sheep!"

This is in Kindergarten in Papua New Guinea. I'm the dinosaur fourth from the right.

I like that the Robin Hood's bow (who he has traded to the cowboy for a gun - pretty smart move) is a real one from one of the highland tribes.
My mum made fantastic childhood costumes, and my sister and I spent a lot of our childhood dressed up. Every year I would go to the school fete as somethiing new, but for some reason I have no photos.

You've posted the third picture before, right? If not then I'm going to be really creeped out with this deja vu

I like the Ninja eyes. They're 3rd grade fierce.

A cardboard box robot with dryer tubes for arms and legs, and some blinking lights attached to a battery on my chest
I hurt like a motherfucker by the end of the night but that was a damned badass costume

I really wish I had pictures of my halloween costumes. I was Pac-Man the same year my brother went as the Kraken from Clash of the Titans. Snarl the Dinobot in the second grade. Mostly I went as monsters and such, but in third grade I went as the wolfman using one of those old paas make up kits from the grocery store and it was my all time favorite. Speaking of paas costumes, in kindegarden they had these three headed costumes with make up (inflatable heads on each shoulder and your head in a hood and make up in the middle). I went as a three headed skeleton and my cousin as a three headed clown. Those kits were all the rage in my town that year and were never seen again. Really a shame. Same year my brother started wearing his Gamoren Gaurd mask from Return Of The Jedi, a mask he wore every year after until he 'out grew' Halloween.
Oh, I had forgotten. In the first grade my mother bought me a Spider-Man costume that i was all to happy to wear. Until I saw the 'Fire Retardant' label on the side of the box. I thought mom had gotten me the costume for retards and was pretty depressed about it. Until Halloween and somehow forgot my depression for trick or treating around town and in the mall.

I have a bunch o' photos of my childhood costumes, but they're all in storage so I'll have to dig 'em out sometime. That said, I do have this one photo of me as a kid on just an average day that's somewhat Halloweeny:

I like the Max Headroom shirt.
I do remember one year I was in ballet class and that was the year I was all about The Muppet Show. We were supposed to perform at some fall festival, but I saw this woman who was doing face-painting and I slipped away just before we were scheduled to go on.
I ended up being front and center with a big Miss Piggy nose painted on my face, thus screwing up whatever look-at-the-adorable-little-ballerinas crap they had planned.

Yeah, looking back on that picture is a constant reminder to me as to just how little I've changed (ie: matured) over the years. :picklehat

Hmm, I recall Halloweens as Wednesday Adams (with a stuff hand on my head), a ghost, a princess/bride (I got a wedding dress from a retail shop), Mina Harker (along with my brother and his friends we were the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), Powerpup Girl (absolutely no relation with Powerpuff girls, I didn't even know of that show when I invented her), a Renaissance lady, "The Cat's Meow", and a gypsy. This year is Gypsy Mark II.
