Listening to you talk about the game, Doctor, I couldn't help but think of this strip. It's a Penny-Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2010/1/8/) Seems the "mix of games" hasn't gone unnoticed.
Haven't been able to partake of the game yet, myself, but might get around to giving it a try one of these days. The story actually does seem interesting. Would like to see how it plays out.

Games can steal from God of War all they want, the Dante's Inferno demo was really fun.

What can I say it's a fun game made up of other fun games.

That's the gist of it. It's a fun game, but there's not an original idea anywhere in it.

Well considering God of War completely and totally ripped off most of it's ideas from the prince of persia games on the Xbox classic, yes, yes they can.

It has more in common with Devil May Cry than PoP, in that there is the same level of emphasis on combat and puzzle solving. PoP seemed to stress the platforming aspects more than the fighting.
Just think that prior to God of War, we were calling everything third person action game a DMC clone.
