NEVER!!! I totally disagree with the statement above but it seems to be what I am hearing from uttered from everyone's mouth holes (present readers excluded). I am weary of hearing my beloveds referred to as "fads". It's just not right people! It might as well be a raicial slur to the zombie race punishable only by immediate surrendering of your BBRRAAIIINNNSSS!!!!

Zombies have been around since long before I was even born (and they were kind enough even to help raise me in there own ways), so how is it only now that I am hearing them referd to as such horrible words as "fads" and "phases". It's outlandish and down right offense to me. You wouldn't tell a kid that his parents are so uncool that they can never see them again, would you? Well I totally would, but only because I want those children to feel the same way I do!

I feel so strongly about this that if given the chance I would gladly start the Zombie Apocalypse just to destroy all believers of this horrible phrase. Try to tell a zombie he isn't "in" any more and see what comments he has on the matter, he might just talk your head off (Ha! Cheesy zombie jokes are ALWAYS good)! I could even be comfortable throwing myself to the zombies to join my brethren, after killing as many as I could with my trusty boomstick.

The Zombie Nation is at WAR! It is time to rally the troops and destroy this notion that zombies are some form of accessory or means of entertainment that can abolished because it's been done to often. Zombies have become a way of life for many and it's time for people to accept that they aren't going away any time soon and hopefully never! But this sort of slander is just something I will just have to learn to deal with....well at least until I develop that virus and through someones incompetence it lands in the hands of a teenager or small child and begins the end of mankind. DEATH TO ALL MORTALS!!!

Nun Eater - It's actually the natural order of things that certain forms of entertainment fade in and fade out. Zombies were all the rage in the early 80s and then died off for quite a while. This past decade they've been all the rage once again, but people will naturally get tired of seeing "zombie this" and "zombie that" everywhere they look. Same will happen with all the vampire stuff we're seeing.

You know I love me some good zombie flicks, but it's definitely at the point of over-saturation in many regards, so you have to weed through a lot of crappy zombie material to find the truly good stuff.

Zombies were all the rage in video games because it's an easy modification to make.
Normally, AI in games can be VERY intenstive, even if you never physically see it. So having dumb zombies means the games can be done a bit better and a bit faster, at an expense the player accepts.

Although I can understand why people are complaining about it in Red Dead Redemption and Call of Duty. Shoe-horning it into exisiting genres as DLC is lazy.

I really feel your pain Nun Eater. I felt the same way when people told me that Tazos were over and that my Jelly shoes were so last season. But you know what I have learned, fashion will return to those who stay true. I mean you only have to look at the dress sense of some of the inhabitants of this board. I mean plaid shirts and combat boots were dead in the water once Kurt bought the farm, but you hung in there and are now fashionista! We went through (are still going through?) a time when zombies got thrown into pretty much everything. Especially video games. They're never going to simply "go away" ... but I think you'll see a little bit of the zombie fad start to slow. When it reaches a point when a game like Red Dead (that has nothing to do with zombies) is getting a zombie related DLC ... you know you're reaching near over-saturation proportions. It will slow but you will ALWAYS have zombie related products.

It's a guarantee that you'll see a Left 4 Dead 3 released sometime. There have been talks of a sequel to 28 Days/Weeks Later for a while now. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if Resident Evil 6 returns back to having full fledged zombies instead of the whole "infected" angle they've been going for. So no, I don't think its going anyplace.

Well, I see it like the music game genre. It peaked to the point of bleeding into ALL CULTURE and will eventually recede into an accepted spot. Far below the peak, but at a pace that won't wear itself out.
