So we want to make a trailer for the upcoming game and I need to capture some of the gameplay footage itself but don't have any video capture software, nor have I ever used any. Can you guys recommend any software (preferably free) that works really well?

uh... I always used fraps before I had to get a macbook and was therefore fucked. Not sure if the internet at large approves of fraps, though

fraps is good but you gotta get the registered version or it's pretty limited :(

Ok, the registration fee isn't too pricey, so I can deal with that. But just to confirm, this program can capture anything you do on your computer, not just PC games, right?

fraps only captures stuff that uses d3d ( i think :< ) for desktop capturing the only thing that's worked well for me is camtasia studio, there may be a better solution somewhere.
