View Full Version : This is why I don't like rpgs>:(

Does anyone else hate the fact that in most rpgs you can only use 3 or 4 of your guys at a time? In ff3, you get to use them all pretty much the same amount...but I still prefer the earthbound style where everyone gets experience.
Anyway, what's everyone's favorite rpg character, ever? Mine's either red (ff7) or cyan (ff6).

The Wanderer (Fallout)
The Chosen One (Fallout 2)

Well, in Eartbound, there were only 4 characters. :/
But yeah, in FF6, there were a lot of events that required specific characters to be used at times.

Cless (tales of phantasia)
bowser (mario rpg)
billy lee black (xenogears)
thats all i can think of right now :/

That's all I can think of :/

I always see Fallout games for about 10 bucks. Is it worth picking up?
Feb 17th, 2003, 02:01 PM
Most assuredly, it is.

Out of all the RPGs I've owned or currently own:
My character >: (Legend of Mana)
Red XIII (FF7)
Geddoe (Suikoden 3. He smoked weed. :/)

While you're out grabbing budget PC games, pick up Planescape: Torment.
The Nameless One is a darling, whether he's hitting on Zombies, kicking his pet Lim-Lim, or making fun of whores.
Also, another vote for the Fallout series, though you're not missing much if you skip on Fallout Tactics.
I've never had any love for a console RPG character, really, since most of them are grotesque and have underdeveloped "stories."

I liked Vincent and Cid in FFVII :(
And the characters from the Final Fantasy Game boy games: FF Legend I, II, and III and FF Adventure. Bitches. >:

Also, the guy from Gothic was cool. He could fight, cast spells, shoot bows and crossbows, smoke three different kinds of pot, cook food, make swords, etc.
Feb 17th, 2003, 05:25 PM
OF COURSE HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT VINCENT!
boogie i have been looking at the game review lists and GOD DAMN. please tell me you have thrown some of these out....
i guess me and zomboid need to raise the quality level over there a bit...

Feb 17th, 2003, 06:54 PM
My favorite RPG character is Sephiroth, but if it has to be a good guy... I really can't decide :/
Feb 17th, 2003, 07:32 PM
Minsc from Baldur's Gate (1 & 2) is the best RPG character ever. >:
Incidentally, both Baldur's Gate games are the best RPGs ever. >:
Feb 18th, 2003, 12:05 AM
The Dragon Warrior >:
Feb 18th, 2003, 06:58 AM
Cyan Garamonde (FFVI)
Cecil Harvey (FFIV)
Some games you use more characters, some you don't
Feb 20th, 2003, 09:27 PM
Faran Brygo from Wasteland :rolleyes
Feb 21st, 2003, 02:28 AM
Zell from FFVIII :(
Feb 21st, 2003, 02:37 AM
People, please. Someone break ranks from the FF army and support me on the Gothic guy.
Feb 21st, 2003, 03:52 AM
Axim from Lufia II wasn't that bad, either.
Feb 21st, 2003, 06:26 AM
Citan from Xenogears is also a badass
Feb 21st, 2003, 08:44 AM
My RPG experience is limited to FF (go with what you know). I'm trying to break out into more games, but RPGs almost never go down in price. Although I did get Legend of Dragoon for $15 for Christmas. I wanna the SaGa games, Legend of Mana, Xenogears, Dark Cloud, and maybe Suikoden.
Anyway, my favorite characters. Probably every single character with a name in FF6. :mark
Feb 21st, 2003, 01:47 PM
Legend of dragoon was a pretty goood one, but it wasn't anywhere near the league of the FF series. The dragoon system was cool though. Too bad the characters weren't very likable.

Best RPG characters..
Fei from Xenogears (you know he kicked all ass when he got the System ID ability)
Magus (Chrono Trigger.. I can't BELIEVE you guys, especially some of you inclined towards Sephiroth, forgot about Magus)
Aya (Parasite Eve.. if you consider it an RPG)
Squall (FF VIII)
Also, I admit, I'm a cheater. I use GameShark on any RPGs. Not because I cheat wholeheartedly, but when you've gotta divide your time between work, a girlfriend and car repairs (AAARGH!!) do YOU really have time to sit there and level up your characters?
I KNOW I'm not alone on this.
