View Full Version : I'm on an IPA kick...

I have refined tastes when it comes to beer. I prefer a good Pale Ale any day of the week. Sierra Nevada is my favorite... But ever since I went to San Francisco I've been on this India Pale Ale trip that I just can't break. There's something so GDGreat about these IPA's that I'm swearing to them. I recently finished a "Ballast Point Big Eye" pint of IPA and now I'm working on a "Stone Ruination" pint of IPA. They're both 6% and now that I near the bottom of the 2nd bottle I'm beginning to feel a buzz.
Any Ale Aficionado's out there considering taking an IPA trip around the world can join hands with me and swing merrily in the bountiful happiness and malted barley BITTERNESS that is the PALATE OF A TRUE BEER ENTHUSIAST! (that might not make any sense)

CAMRA? Enlighten me homie. And from my limited knowledge on IPA's, they derive from England during the British Empire and how Sailors added lots of hops to keep the beer drinkable during their transit around Cape Hope to India.

Ground control to Major Tom Ground control to Major Tom: Take your protein pills and put your helmet on.
Ground control to Major Tom: Commencing countdown engine's on.
Check ignition and may God's love be with you!
*funny sounds*
This is ground control to Major Tom, you've really made the grade!
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear. Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare.
This is Major Tom to ground control, I'm stepping through the door... And I'm floating in the most peculiar way. And the stars look very different today.
For here am I sitting in a tin can, far above the world
Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can dooooooooo.
DUNK-A-DUNK-A-DUNK *CLAP CLAP*
DUNK-A-DUNK-A-DUNK *CLAP CLAP*
Though I'm passed one hundred thousand miles, I'm feeling very still. And I think my spaceship knows which way to go. Tell my wife I love her very much she knows.
Ground control to Major Tom: Your circuit's dead, there's something wong.
Can you hear me Major Tom?
Can you hear me Major Tom?
Can you hear me Major Tom? Can you ...
Here am I floating round my tin can, far above the moon. Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do

Thats one IPA too many methinks...
CAMRA= www.camra.org.uk campaign for real ale. Basically an excuse for fat bearded english men to spend every spare moment in the Pub.
For all my cynicism, it is good to see Americans looking beyond their own domestic crap to properly brewed beer.
A mate of mine has a brewery here in brighton, they have won a tone of awards, and their beer is actually delicious. They are called the Star Brewery, probably cant get it in the states.

Has anybody here noticed that whenever Sicktodeathmx doesn't have anything to say that is pertnant to the conversation at hand, she'll try and find something else to comment on, like their avatar or their website?
SOMEBODY TO SICKTODEATHMX: "Please please please shut up."
SICKTODEATHMX: "haha @ your email adress"
SICKTODEATHMX: "ps your avatar isn't showing up for me."
LATER IN ANOTHER THREAD
SOMEBODY TO SICKTODEATHMX: "Seriously, shut up."
SICKTODEATHMX: "your avatar works now :)"

GODAMMIT!
I'm cuckoo for Sierra Neveda, as well. But as for Ipswich IPA, I will alway have a place for that beer in my heart. It's quality of taste is very dense, it's hearty and very mellow and it lingers in my mouth espcially with the steak and mashed potato dinner. the types of beer i drink are dpending on the season. i drink lagers (becks heineken and corona) during summer but as for wintertime i keep my belly warm and fuzzy with ale/ipa and sometime stout.
i'm a member of YMAC (young men alcoholic club) which friends and i had created few years back while drinking away 32 ounces of cheap lagers at uno pizzeria. it started with 4 of us. we travel all over the east side of US to visit microbreweries and to sample their beers. the club continues it's journey today and it's, uh...well, still just the 4 of us.
