Today's comic asks a bold question: What if the world, nay reality, is actually an elaborate farce? What if after years of bloody conflict with machines of our own making, humanity was forced into what amounts to slavery as we all lay comatose, force-fed a single massive dream designed to keep us docile like so many bipedal sheep? That could very well be the case according to the hacker in today's comic, but our protagonists will have nothing to do with it. You have to have something of a sweet spot for our obviously benevolent artificially-intelligent overlords when they are kind enough to provide us with beer and video games in our forced homeostasis.



Speaking of which (the latter, not the former) Square is currently in the process of taking over the world. One might think that with Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance, Final Fantasy X-2 out and Crystal Chronicles on the horizon along with the fanboy-moistening movie Advent Children they would have the decency to sit back and let other people make great games for a while. This is not the case, apparently, as we are finally getting some new information and screenshots on FF12. Despite the fact that the new male lead is easily the hottest chick ever to appear in a Final Fantasy game, it looks to be incredibly good. It takes place in the same world as Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance, and the judges are back, so we're told, only now they realize that they are complete bastards and no longer go around mediating conflicts. Their new purpose is somewhat of a mystery, but you can look forward to hating them equally as much as you did in Tactics. Unfortuntaely Nobuo Uematsu will be creating only the theme song this time around. I say unfortunately because sometimes I consider the actual gameplay of FF games secondary to the fact that I get to wander around an interactive soundtrack composed by Uematsu.
