What are some good Christmas Horror films.

ELVES: I saw this about a year ago, I wrote a review for it:

http://www.i-mockery.com/moviereviews/detailed.asp?ID=345

I should rewrite the review, so that at the end of the second paragraph in the review I can add "Talk about a BAD SANTA!" because I'm all topical and shit.

JACK FROST: Just read the new article.

http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/Jack-Frost

There's a sequel, and a few years ago on Christmas Eve I rented it and had a bunch of my family watch it at my cousin's house. They were mostly drunk, and we had a great time.

CHRISTMAS EVIL: I own this on DVD. It has been reissued by Troma (http://www.troma.com) not too long ago. It's John Water's favorite Christmas film. It's about this insane guy who is obsessed with Santa because he saw his father eating his mother out while he was dressed as him. He begins to assume the role of Santa, keeping a list of naughty boys and girls in the neighborhood. He is eventually driven to kill some especially naughty people, setting him off on a murder spree. From what I remember he doesn't really kill any kids, mostly parents. And the ending is wonderfully absurd.

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT: Sadly, I have never seen a single film in the Silent Night, Deadly Night series. I think there's like 5 of them.

GREMLINS: Shouldn't really be included on this list, because it's too good of a movie.

Are there any more good (bad) ones?

I'll have my article on the sequel up hopefully by the end of the week if all goes well. The Jack Frost movies really are a lot of fun, especially if you're watching them with people who have a decent sense of humor.

Haven't seen that one, but it sounds pretty damned good... and Troma is always amusing to some extent. Gotta love the box art for it too: http://store.troma.com/SiteImages/TR9021-lg.jpg

Saw the first and second ones. The first one was ok... the second one I don't even really remember in all honesty. I think the only reason I ever saw the first one was because the box had Santa going down the chimney with an axe... and by god that looked COOL to my teenage arse.

I'm sure there are, but I can't really think of any memorable ones that I've seen. I'd definitely be interested in seeing some "definitive list of xmas-themed horror flicks" though if anybody would like to share.

Rog,

You can make a good minimock out of these flicks. While the first does have its moments despite being on a very low budget, the second is a recapped version with about an half an hour of original footage...that not even the makers take seriously as shown on their commentary track.

$13.20 with shipping and well worth a good laugh. (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemid=ABD012601&promotion=y)

Silent Night Deadly Night is awesome. :( He shoves the girl through the deer's antlers. :(

Watch the sequel. Not only does he impale a Mafiaso with an umbrella (and not get hunted down in retribution), he blows up a guy's eyes by sticking his head in between the terminals of a car battery then goes on a killing spree...and then doesn't get shot down by the police shortly afterward??

Must be the eyebrows.

I remember X-E doing a review for Christmas Evil awhile back, but I think it's down though.

The Christmas Season Massacre looks pretty damned interesting actually. Damn, I wish I had time to get it and review it for the site this month.

I know a few Christmas movies, but they're not really horror... they're more like B-Movies:

"Santa Claus", Mexican, where he must thwart Satan's son to save Christmas.

"Santa Claus Vs the Martians", Martians kidnap Santa to bring Christmas to Mars.

These are good for a laugh, if anything.

Those are just movies you saw off MST3K. >:

Actually, I read reviews of them and tracked down copies of the actual tapes. I never watched MST3K when it was on because I was too young... the first MST3K thing I saw was the movie about a year ago.

EDIT: Wait, is it still on? As far as I can tell, it's not...
