pjalne The new Orsonified version of Touch of Evil is also good. Sure, Charlton Heston is a Mexican in it and the last line is in my opinion piss awful (there have been discussions), but Welles does a great job as director and actor.

As for Bergman: I like a lot of his stuff, but I'm not sure what I think about Persona. It has lots of good stuff in it, but it sometimes it turns a little pretentious. Haven't seen Seventh Seal yet, looking forward to that one. If you're interested in Victor Sjöström (Seastrom while working in the US), the guy who played the lead in Wild Strawberries, I'd reccomend The Wind from 1928. It has a terrible ending tacked on by the studio (the word 'seamless' does NOT come to mind), but it's got an unparalleled mood and some impressive visual effects. Directed by Sjöström and with Lillian Gish in the lead.

Royal Tenenbaum Yeah, The Third Man is awesome. Orson Welles owns that film; every second he is on screen is gold.

Mockery If I had to say one single movie, it would be "High Strung" without a doubt. But I'd rather not just say one single one so I'll list a few of my faves...

1) Best Comedy - "High Strung"

2) Best Horror - "Prince of Darkness"

3) Best Horror/Comedy - "Jack Frost"

4) Best Thriller - "Se7en"

5) Best Drama - "Shawshank Redemption"

6) Best Romance/Comedy/Surreal - "Amelie"

7) Best Mystery - "Twin Peaks" (the whole series, not just the movie)

That's all I can think of off the top o' my head at the moment...

Generator86 Fight Club is a most definite number two in my book. Shit, the first time I saw it, after my boss at Video Update told me that it was absolutely imperative I see this movie as quick as I can, well, I went. Yeah, I fell in love with the movie. I went back the next morning to see it again. Since then, I've read all of Chuck Pahlinuk's books at least three times, and all I can hear is Ed Norton's voice narrating them.
